    Job Description Summary

    The Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing GHG fleet safety (CDL and non-CDL), warehouse safety across multi-temperature environments, asset management, and safety within a production environment. This role is responsible for building and maintaining a comprehensive safety and compliance program, ensuring full regulatory adherence, minimizing risk, and fostering a safety-first culture through training, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations for all vehicle types and facilities.
    • Maintain and audit safety documentation: driver files, DVIRs, inspection logs, and drug/alcohol testing records.
    • Investigate accidents and workplace incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
    • Manage incident claims in collaboration with HR, Supply Chain leadership, and insurance providers.
    • Lead external audits and regulatory inspections.
    • Develop and maintain safety policies in line with federal, state, and local standards.
    • Conduct routine safety audits in warehouses and in the field.
    • Utilize fleet management and telematics systems (e.g., Samsara, Geotab) to monitor performance and mitigate risk.
    • Analyze trends, violations, and near-misses to drive continuous improvement.
    • Report on safety performance through dashboards, KPIs, and regular leadership updates.
    • Develop and deliver safety training for CDL and non-CDL drivers, including defensive driving, HOS compliance, and vehicle inspection.
    • Facilitate driver onboarding and ongoing compliance training.
    • Conduct regular safety briefings and campaigns to reinforce best practices.
    • Collaborate with Transportation and Warehouse teams on safety improvement initiatives.
    • Maintain accurate records of inspections, training, and incidents.
    • Lead emergency preparedness planning for fleet-related events, including severe weather.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for company-wide fleet safety matters.
    • Partner cross-functionally with HR, Operations, and Logistics to embed safety into daily processes. __

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field, or 5+ years of relevant experience (preferably in manufacturing or food production).
    • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, FMCSA, and other applicable safety regulations.
    • Proven ability to lead safety initiatives across diverse operations.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

    Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, ASP) preferred
