Site Safety Representative | Rooftop Solar Decommissioning Project

    Join Our Team

Professional Safety Solutions, LLC is seeking an experienced Site Safety Representative to support a complex rooftop solar photovoltaic system decommissioning project at an active commercial warehouse facility. This role will support Southern California Edison (SCE) as the rooftop tenant and coordinate closely with both the building landlord and on-site tenant operations.

This project involves full solar system removal, material handling, recycling coordination, and electrical equipment demolition in a live facility environment, requiring a highly organized, field-focused safety professional who can manage evolving logistics while maintaining strict safety compliance.

    Position Overview

The Site Safety Representative will provide hands-on safety leadership throughout all phases of rooftop solar decommissioning, including removal of solar modules, conduits, cable trays, switchgear, transformers, and associated electrical infrastructure. The role requires close coordination with tenants, landlords, and field crews while ensuring OSHA compliance, environmental requirements, and safe work practices in an active warehouse setting.

This position is ideal for a safety professional with experience in solar, electrical, or utility-scale construction who is comfortable working in dynamic environments and navigating logistical constraints.

    Key Responsibilities

Provide daily field safety oversight for rooftop solar decommissioning activities, including demolition, material handling, transportation, and recycling operations. Conduct routine safety inspections, hazard assessments, and job hazard analyses for rooftop access, fall protection, soft roof conditions, electrical systems, and equipment removal.

Support crews in identifying roof soft spots, ensuring proper marking, delineation, and documentation of compromised areas. Monitor fall protection systems, access points, material staging areas, and laydown logistics to minimize operational impacts to the tenant.

Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, SCE safety requirements, and environmental regulations related to solar module recycling and equipment disposal. Maintain transportation documentation including Bills of Lading and manifests for removed materials.

Coordinate safety activities with the anchor tenant and landlord to accommodate evolving site logistics and operational needs. Support ongoing material pickup scheduling to minimize site footprint. Participate in incident prevention, investigations, corrective action implementation, and daily safety reporting.

Provide safety leadership during multiple mobilizations, including the delayed removal of switchgear and related electrical equipment following initial solar module demolition.

    Required Qualifications

OSHA 30 required (OSHA 510, OSHA 500, or CHST preferred). Minimum 3–5 years of construction safety experience, preferably in solar, electrical, or utility environments. Strong working knowledge of fall protection, rooftop safety, electrical hazards, and material handling procedures. Experience supporting active facilities with tenant coordination and security protocols. Ability to work in changing site conditions and manage evolving logistics. Strong communication skills and field presence. Comfortable working outdoors and on rooftops for extended periods. Proficiency with safety documentation, inspections, and reporting.

    Preferred Qualifications

Previous solar decommissioning or rooftop PV experience. Electrical safety or substation exposure. Experience coordinating recycling and environmental compliance for solar modules. CHST certification. OSHA 500 Trainer certification.

    Project Highlights

Complex rooftop solar decommissioning on an active commercial warehouse. Coordination with tenant and landlord operations. Electrical equipment removal including switchgear, transformers, and SCADA components. Solar module recycling per DTSC and SCE environmental requirements. Multi-phase mobilization with evolving logistics. High-impact role with significant field leadership responsibility.
