    Below is a list of our varying openings for Credentialed Veterinary Technicians as well as information about training and pay ranges. Please review and select which position you are most interested in when completing the application.

    WORK FROM HOME OPTIONS AVAILABLE IN THESE STATES: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. 


    VETERINARY INFORMATION SPECIALIST II, JOB DESCRIPTION: The Veterinary Information Specialist II (VIS) position is responsible for responding to incoming cases on Pet Poison Helpline via telephone regarding potential toxic exposures, poisonings, and other adverse events from pet owners. Specialists take full histories and details of the events, triage the cases, and provide accurate medical, health, and safety information to the callers. Specialists document each case in an electronic record and follow up as necessary to ensure the well-being of the animals and facilitate adverse event reporting. Given the nature of the position, many pet owners are calling under stressful circumstances and are therefore in distress. VIS must be able to manage cases under pressure and be comfortable talking to people in various emotional states.

    SCHEDULE OPTIONS:

    FULL-TIME:  Works 40 hours per week. Shifts listed below.  Employee will choose either 8.5-hour long shifts (5 days/week) OR 10.5-hour long shifts (4 days/week).  This includes working every other weekend (both Saturday and Sunday), as well as rotation of holidays.  Work weeks run Saturday through Friday. Shift start and end times are scheduled in advance and will vary from day to day.

    • EVENING SHIFT (eligible for a $2/hour shift differential):
      • Shifts will be scheduled between the hours of 2pm-2:30am CST.  
      • Employees will be scheduled set days, typically following every other week rotation.

    PART-TIME:  

    • EVENING SHIFT (INCLUDING EVERY OTHER WEEKEND): Works 20 hours per week, 5 days per week, each shift being 4 hours long. Employees will be scheduled set days, typically following every other week rotation.  This rotation includes working every other weekend (both Saturday and Sunday), as well as rotating holidays.  Work week run Saturday through Friday. Shift start and end times are scheduled in advance and will vary from day to day. See training requirements below.  
      • Shift Option #1:  Scheduled between the hours of 2pm-8pm CST.
      • Shift Option #2:  Scheduled between the hours of 4pm-10pm CST.
      • Shift Option #3:  Scheduled between the hours of 5pm-2am CST (eligible for a $2/hour shift differential)
    • WEEKEND ONLY SHIFT:  Weekend staff can choose to either work 8.5- or 10.5-hour long shifts.  Shifts are scheduled between the hours of 8am-8:30pm CST and include a 1/2-hour unpaid break.  Weekend staff will work any holidays that fall on their regularly scheduled weekends.  See training requirements below.  Can choose from the following options:
      • Work every weekend, both Saturday and Sunday

      • Work every Saturday

      • Work every other weekend, both Saturday & Sunday

     


    VETERINARY HELPLINE REPRESENTATIVE II, JOB DESCRIPTION: The Veterinary Helpline Representative (VHR) is responsible for responding to incoming cases via the telephone, email, and chat applications for our veterinary nurse lines regarding general animal health and wellbeing questions on topics such as behavior, nutrition, and disease processes, as well as triaging symptoms, potential toxic exposures, poisonings, and other emergency situations. Position is responsible for managing and documenting cases, taking full histories and details of the events, triaging cases, and providing accurate medical, health, and safety information to the callers. Each case will be documented in SafetyCall International (SCI) databases. VHR staff will perform follow-up as necessary to ensure the wellbeing of the animals.  Given the nature of the position, many pet owners are calling under stressful circumstances and are therefore in distress. VHR must be able to manage cases under pressure and be comfortable talking to people in various emotional states.

    SCHEDULE OPTION:

    • FULL TIME ONLY: Works 40 hours per week. Shifts listed below. Employees will work 10.5-hour long shifts (4 days/week). Scheduled days of the week will be predictable following every other week rotation. This includes working every other weekend (both Saturday and Sunday), as well as rotation of holidays.  Work weeks run Saturday through Friday. Shift start and end times are scheduled in advance and will vary from day to day.
      • Evening Shift (eligible for $2/hour shift differential):  Shifts will be scheduled between the hours of 2pm-2:30am CST

    TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR EACH POSITION:  Full-time and Part-time candidates must be able to commit to a 4-week, full time, paid, remote training process up front. Training schedules are determined in advance and are most often Monday through Friday daytime hours but can include some varying days/times.  Currently, we are unable to work with any scheduling conflicts during the training process. After training is complete the shift you are hired for will begin.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

    • Active CVT/LVT/RVT License and 6 months to 1+years of work experience in a veterinary clinic/hospital and for some positions preferred at least one year of emergency/critical care experience
    • Ability to work varying shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
    • Ability to maintain active licensure, if applicable.
    • Above average proficiency with keyboarding, PCs, Microsoft Office, and common computer software and hardware.
    • Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, ratios and percentages.
    • Verbal and written communication that is clear, concise, accurate, professional, empathetic, and compassionate on a regular basis, including during stressful or high-pressure situations and interactions.
    • Strong attention to detail and spelling with the ability to accurately enter data with very few errors.
    • Ability to attend to multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining quality and accuracy.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    • Ability to gather and analyze complex or diverse information.
    • Customer service focused attitude and behavior. 
    • Maintain confidentiality of clients’ products, procedures, and case detail as well as SCI’s operating procedures.
    • Remote employees must be able to meet and maintain IT requirements following SCI policies.

    REMOTE AGENT REQUIREMENT: Candidates who work remotely must have or be willing to obtain and maintain at their expense certain IT requirements including reliable high-speed internet with an ISP that can supply a cable modem internet service and a landline phone. Candidates must also have a designated home office area that meets certain requirements and may not have any other responsibilities during the time they are working such as caring for dependents. 

    PAY & BENEFITS: 

    • The starting pay range is a base rate between $19-$20/hour (plus shift differentials if applicable). 
    • Employees who work weekend phone shifts between the hours of 12am CST on Saturday through 4am CST on Monday will receive an additional $5/hour differential on top of their base rate and any other differentials that they have.
    • Pay varies based on the individual where we look at several factors including education, experience, and credentials.
