    About our Brand

    That colorful hotel in the desert, The Saguaro is a good time. It’s not that complicated. There’s plenty of sunshine, a buzzing pool scene and lots of local flavor.

    The Director of Engineering is responsible for maintaining the hotel facility, including exterior landscaping and parking areas, the physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment, hazard systems, life safety equipment, electrical, kitchen and laundry, and exercise equipment. Day to day management will include delegating work assignments, leading the preventative maintenance plan, monitoring and controlling parts and labor expenditures, administering outside engineering vendor contracts, selecting, training, and developing employees. This position will also be responsible for keeping all records up to date to comply with brand quality assurance guidelines.

    Job Description

    Selection, development, and leadership of all Engineering team members

    Management of all building systems, and maintenance and repair to consistently provide all guests and team members with fully operational amenities and facilities

    Experience in leading and executing efficient and productive preventative maintenance system

    Organize, schedule, and oversee repairs across the building including needs of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and aesthetic disciplines including painting

    Assess proactive and reactive mechanical needs, determining appropriate repair strategy and, as needed, select vendors and contractors to complete work throughout the building as assigned

    Establish and execute a preventative maintenance program to ensure all public areas, guest rooms, and machinery are serviced and updated according to schedule in order to prevent major breakdowns

    Payroll Administration for department personnel

    Manage Vendors, follow up and renew maintenance contracts, permits, & licenses

    Oversee and maintain Fire Safety-related equipment and procedures

    Order supplies, process accounts payable, and monitor the department budget

    In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel:

    Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events.

    Participate as a team player with all departments.

    Provide constructive feedback to all departments.

    Be a leader and a role model to all employees.

    Requirements

    High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.

    Certifications in Electrical, HVAC or Building Systems required.

    Minimum of 5 years of previous hotel maintenance leadership experience required.

    Prior hotel/resort maintenance experience in a full-service luxury or boutique environment required.

    Prior experience using Microsoft Office required. Must display ability to work with general computer operations.

    Must have strong communication skills both written and verbal.

    Must be organized and willing to take the initiative to achieve the goals of both the department and the hotel.

    Must be able to multi-task and possess the ability to recognize that the guests’ interests and needs are always primary.

    Long hours sometimes required.

    Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends.

    Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.

    Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.

    Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.

    Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

    Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.

    Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

    Perform other duties as requested by management.
