    We're recruiting for a capital equipment sales representative. Our client manufactures high-pressure water jets (waterjet) and pumps used in various hard industries: mining and aerospace, and soft industries: textiles, rubber, foam, plastics, leather, composites, stone, tile, glass, metals, food, paper, for cutting, shaping, and reaming. Great Lakes territory based out of Chicago or Detroit areas.

    About the industry:

    In the water jet cutter, waterjet, industry selling industrial tools capable of cutting a wide variety of materials using an extremely high-pressure jet of water, or a mixture of water and an abrasive substance. Using abrasive water jet and a mixture of water and abrasive to cut hard materials such as metal, stone, or glass. Our client makes waterjets without the use of added abrasives, often used for softer materials such as wood or rubber. In addition, our client also manufactures waterjet cutting equipment used during the fabrication of machine parts. This is the best method when the materials being cut are sensitive to the high temperatures heat. These products are used in various industries, including mining and aerospace, for cutting, shaping, and reaming.

    All waterjets follow the same principle of using high-pressure water focused into a beam by a nozzle. Most machines accomplish this by first running the water through a high-pressure pump. There are two types of pumps used to create this high pressure: an intensifier pump and a direct drive or crankshaft pump. Materials commonly cut with a water jet include textiles, rubber, foam, plastics, leather, composites, stone, tile, glass, metals, food, paper, and much more.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    The regional sales manager will sell high-pressure waterjet cutting machines, controls, and pumps and grow our client's revenues in assigned territories through effective sales processes.

    This role communicates directly with customers to understand equipment/process needs, coordinating with the company’s technical service, engineering, and production teams to deliver products and services that meet those requirements.

    The employee’s success will be evaluated based on revenue and market share growth in the assigned territories, as well as the effectiveness of interpersonal relationships.

    Responsibilities:

    • Development of leads in the territory assigned and qualify the leads generated by the Marketing team.
    • Utilize a comprehensive sales process that qualifies leads, establishes customer requirements, presents compelling messages, and works the opportunity to a closed sale with appropriate margins.
    •  Maintain a contact management database to monitor client contacts.
    • Maintain close working relationships with customers, creating opportunities to strengthen them.
    • Assist the Parts Sales and Technical Service teams in supporting customers as required.
    • Serve as the primary liaison between the customer and the Technical Service, Engineering, and Production teams during an equipment order’s development.
    • Manage sales budgets to ensure appropriate approvals are received and expenses are managed.
    • Work with the Marketing team to develop on-going account communications, target key segment and regional opportunities for lead generation, improve sales messaging, develop customer testimonials for advertising messages, participate in trade show appearances, and support and enhance the brand message as a primary liaison with our customers
    • Develop competitor libraries that can be used for pricing, product development, and sales positioning.
    • Assist the Sales team with the sourcing and development of qualified distributor relationships.
    • Provide customer feedback to the Engineering and Technical Service teams to drive future product development, as well as participation in the product, launches to optimize impact in the market. Follow established department procedures and company policies.
    • Participate in other areas of the business as required.

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    • Must live within the greater Chicago or Detroit metro areas Five years of relevant waterjet, pumps, CNC machine experience in the capital equipment market.
    • Technical degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Experience with formal sales process utilizing CRM systems, 
    • Positive attitude with excellent communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
    • Good listener with a service orientated attitude to meet a customer’s needs
    • Personal drive and competitiveness to manage and generate leads, driving customer to a sales order
    • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
    • Competency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook
    • Assigned territory region includes IL, MI, IN, OH, KY, VA, WV.
    • Work out of the home on a permanent basis.

    Domestic travel is required (approximately 50%), international travel as deemed necessary.
