    Confidential Opportunity Overview

P5 Consulting Services is recruiting for an Agriculture Sales and Market Development Representative for a global crop protection and specialty chemical company. We’re seeking a credible, self-directed Washington agriculture professional who can develop dealer, distributor, applicator, consultant, and grower relationships across the state.

This is a flexible 1099 contractor opportunity for someone who already understands Washington crops, crop protection conversations, product stewardship, and how purchasing decisions are made in local agricultural communities. The role is well suited for a senior ag sales professional, crop consultant, agronomist, or crop protection representative who wants territory ownership and performance upside.

    Candidate Career Value Snapshot

    • Represent a global crop protection company with a broad portfolio of herbicide, fungicide, insecticide, seed treatment, and specialty chemical products.

    • Use existing Washington relationships in a role built around market development (vs a desk driven sales job.)

    • Work across high value Washington crops including tree fruit, potatoes, onions, wheat, hops, grapes, berries, vegetables, and related markets.

    • Build a territory through dealers, distributors, applicators, consultants, and grower relationships.

    • Receive a monthly market development retainer plus meaningful performance bonus tied to measurable outcomes.

    • Operate with field autonomy while maintaining professional discipline, product stewardship, and compliance with labels and licensing requirements.

    • Create value for growers and channel partners through practical product education, timely follow up, market intelligence, and credible agronomic conversation.

      Position Summary

The Agriculture Sales and Market Development Representative will support the commercialization, promotion, and sale of crop protection products across Washington State. The role requires a practical mix of technical agriculture knowledge, commercial judgment, dealer relationship development, and consistent field execution.

The strongest fit is someone who is comfortable being measured by market progress, relationship quality, account development, product adoption, and sales results. This person should be able to work independently, follow product labels and regulations, and represent the company professionally in local agricultural settings.

      Core Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute a Washington territory work plan with clear milestones and performance goals.
    • Build and expand sales activity across Washington agricultural markets.
    • Develop relationships with dealers, distributors, Ag retailers, applicators, crop consultants, and growers.
    • Promote crop protection products including herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and related specialty products.
    • Support product education, seasonal sales activity, field level discussions, and customer follow up.
    • Identify new opportunities by crop, geography, pest pressure, product need, and customer demand.
    • Provide product use and agronomic guidance only where legally permitted and properly licensed.
    • Support order flow, customer communication, account development, and payment follow up when appropriate.
    • Provide market intelligence on customer needs, competitive products, pricing, performance, channel feedback, and registration related needs.
    • Represent the company professionally at agricultural meetings, trade events, and industry settings when useful.

      Washington Market Exposure

Washington is one of the most diverse agricultural markets in the United States. The right candidate may work through tree fruit districts in Yakima, Wenatchee, Chelan, and the Columbia River corridor; irrigated crop markets in the Columbia Basin, Othello, Moses Lake, Quincy, Pasco, Royal City, and Walla Walla; wheat and pulse markets in the Palouse and Spokane area; grapes and hops in Yakima, Prosser, and Walla Walla; and berries, seed crops, nursery crops, or vegetable markets in western Washington.

The role requires sound judgment because Washington crop protection conversations are technical, seasonal, relationship driven, and highly dependent on product fit, label language, timing, efficacy, pricing, and local trust.

      Ideal Candidate Profile

    • Ten or more years of agricultural sales, crop protection, agronomy, crop consulting, or Ag retail experience preferred.
    • Established relationships in Washington agriculture strongly preferred.
    • Experience with specialty crops, row crops, tree fruit, potatoes, onions, grapes, hops, berries, wheat, vegetables, or related crop markets.
    • Agronomy, CCA, PCA, pesticide license, applicator license, consultant license, or comparable credential preferred.
    • Ability to work independently as a 1099 contractor.
    • Strong communication, follow up, territory management, and customer development discipline.
    • Practical understanding of product stewardship, label compliance, and the limits of giving recommendations without proper licensing.

      Leadership Style That Will Fit

    • Self directed, disciplined, and comfortable working without daily supervision.
    • Technically credible without overcomplicating conversations.
    • Commercially practical and able to discuss customer economics, not just product features.
    • Trusted by dealers, consultants, applicators, and growers because follow up is consistent and accurate.
    • Comfortable building a market through patience, persistence, and professional relationship management.
    • Ethical and careful with product use guidance, licensing, labels, and documentation.
