Sales Representative
Position Summary
A well-established lumber and mill operation is seeking a Sales Representative to join its sales team. This role supports sales operations in a wholesale hardwood distribution and custom-molding manufacturing environment. The Sales Representative works closely with customers and internal teams to prepare quotes, process orders, and ensure smooth cross-departmental coordination. The first two months of employment will include hands-on work in the lumber yard to gain product knowledge, understand inventory flow, and become familiar with daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist outside sales staff with preparing customer quotes and checking product availability.
• Handle incoming phone inquiries related to current and future customer projects.
• Prepare and provide pricing information for customers.
• Work closely with the Traffic Manager to address inventory and shipping inquiries. • Coordinate with the Mill Manager on the entry and processing of molding and millwork orders.
• Work directly with customers to quote, negotiate, and process sales orders. • Participate in cross-departmental training by working in different departments as needed, including assigned time in the lumber yard during the initial two months of employment.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records related to sales activities.
Qualifications
• Prior experience in sales and customer service.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Information
• The first two months of this role will be primarily based in the lumber yard as part of required onboarding and training.
• This position may require ongoing cross-training across multiple departments.
• Management retains the right to modify or adjust responsibilities as business needs evolve.
