Job description:
Help people navigate one of life's biggest transitions.
If you enjoy helping people through emotional decisions while building relationships and growing business, this sales position may be a fit for you! We're looking for a relationship-driven Sales and Account Manager who enjoys helping people solve complex problems and make confident decisions. This job is part sales consultant, part project advisor, and part trusted guide.
In this role, you'll meet with clients who are preparing for major life transitions—downsizing, relocating, aging-in-place, estate settlements, or moving into senior living communities. You'll meet people who are downsizing after 40 years in a home, helping parents move into assisted living, settling estates, or relocating for major life changes. Although we work with families of all sizes at all stages of life, our largest client base is seniors who are in transition.
This is not a traditional, transactional sales job. You will not be pushing products, closing quick deals, or making cold calls. At Moyer, our sales process is built entirely on deep human connection, emotional intelligence, and long-term project stewardship. We help families navigate major, often stressful life transitions. Success in this role is driven by your ability to earn a family’s trust, guide them through an emotional downsizing process, and oversee the flawless execution of their move through coordinated services. On a day-to-day basis, you'll assess clients’ needs, explain our services, prepare proposals, and guide clients through the decision-making process. This is not a high-pressure sales role. Success comes from building trust, understanding client needs, and creating solutions that make the moving process easier.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be working out of your home office and hitting the road to meet clients face-to-face in their homes. In-person staff meetings are occasionally required.
What you'll actually be doing:
Meeting clients in their homes to listen to their stories, calming their anxieties, and understanding their unique transition needs
In some cases, conducting virtual consultations
Understanding client goals and challenges
Converting leads into clients by building tailored, compassionate moving and downsizing plans and estimates
Managing the client relationship from estimate to move day, including addressing changing needs, coordinating Moyer services and managing third-party vendor referrals
Acting as the bridge between sales and operations, personally stepping in to ensure the move team executes the project exactly as promised
Managing logistics, coordinating timelines, and handling any unexpected on-the-move challenges to keep the client's experience stress-free
Cultivating trust-based relationships with local professionals (senior living directors, real estate agents, estate attorneys) who will confidently refer clients to you
Working closely with operations teams to ensure smooth client transitions
You may enjoy this role if you:
Like meeting new people every day
Love working with older adults
Enjoy consultative selling rather than transactional selling
Are comfortable discussing sensitive life transitions
Can build trust quickly
Are self-motivated and enjoy managing your own schedule
This role may not be for you if:
You dislike networking and relationship-building
You think that project management is not part of your role as a salesperson
You prefer working behind a desk all day
Having difficult conversations makes you uncomfortable
You need highly structured daily routines
What it takes to succeed:
High EQ and empathy: You can walk into a home filled with 40 years of memories, sit with an overwhelmed client, and make them feel safe, heard, and respected.
Meticulous organization: You possess the project management skills required to organize logistics, manage budgets, track moving parts, and document everything clearly.
Resilience and patience: You understand that life transitions are messy, plans change rapidly, and clients require steady, calm guidance through chaos.
Consultative background: You have prior experience in high-touch, relationship-driven sales or service roles (e.g., senior living, estate management, event planning, luxury hospitality).
Tech-savvy: You embrace using technology in general and you are willing to learn new software platforms to manage your day-to-day work.
Seamlessly transition between independent work and teamwork: You are self-motivated and driven adept at managing your calendar and juggling priorities. When it comes to working within a team, you collaborate well with others, communicating clearly and managing challenges with tact and an open mind.
Apply If:
You enjoy helping people through important life changes and want a career where relationship-building and emotional intelligence matters more than aggressive sales tactics.
How to Apply:
We care far more about your empathy, organization, and communication skills than a traditional sales resume. Applicants are asked to submit a resume and three professional references. In lieu of a cover letter, please submit a response no longer than 500 words to the following prompt: Please describe a time you managed a complex project or helped someone through a challenging personal transition. Submit your resume, references and response to the prompt in a single PDF document. Applicants who do not follow instructions will be disqualified. Given the volume of applicants, we will only be able to respond to those who are selected for an interview.
Flexible work from home options available.
