    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Manager/Assistant Salon Manager

    Summary of Responsibilities:

    To manage the performance of the salon and a team of stylists to provide our clientele with haircutting services and products that will create a fun and memorable experience for children and parents alike. Ensure consistency in all aspects of operations and day-to-day activities. Build the Pigtails & Crewcuts brand by being a positive example. The following list may be altered as the needs of the business change and at the discretion of its’ owners.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Employee relations

    Constant and open dialog with owner keeping abreast of issues and performance of salon.

    Manage employee complaints and involve ownership as necessary.

    Lead periodic employee meetings.

    Oversee on floor performance of the employees and address any issues as necessary.

    Set up and conduct interviews when necessary.

    Manage and approve staffing levels to achieve profit budgets.

    Manage and approve time-off requests.

    Manage breaks/shift changes/when to let people go home.

    Create employee schedules in an effective manner to meet business needs and labor budgets.

    Perform new hire onboarding and initial training for any new employees.

    Train and mentor new hair stylists and staff on services (including haircut technique and fundamentals, if needed) and retails sales.

    Champion retail sales performance and drive staff to achieve 15% retails sales goal.

    Provide continuing guidance and support for the receptionist and hair stylists as needed.

    Participate in employee disciplinary matters with owner.

    Covering shifts if necessary

    Inventory

    Perform monthly inventory of retail items and research any discrepancies.

    Perform bi-weekly inventory for hair care products and research any discrepancies.

    Communicate inventory needs to owner regularly for ordering purposes.

    Customer relations

    Manage customer reviews & complaints and follow up with clients on any negative reviews/complaints weekly via phone call/email. Add corresponding notes in review system.

    Fix issues with customer haircuts.

    Creating a positive environment for clients and employees.

    Ensuring high quality and efficient service.

    Physical presentation of store

    Ensure retail is properly stocked, cleaned, and presentable.

    Ensure retail is rotated every two weeks.

    Order retail items monthly in accordance with retail budgets.

    Communicate supply needs to owner for ordering purposes.

    Participate in supply ordering responsibilities.

    Communicate maintenance and repair needs to owner and coordinate repair vendors on occasion.

    Ensure register has enough cash on hand and make trips to the bank as necessary.

    Ensure cash drawer always balances, address any drawer balancing issues with employees and advise owner of discrepancies.

    Ensure daily cleaning is completed and checklist is signed daily.

    Ensure deep cleaning takes place bi-weekly.

    Ensure salon is ready for the annual Shear Excellence Franchisor audit.

    Help with organization and planning for monthly promotable products or trends.

    Meet with the owner monthly to review salon performance and plan any necessary changes.

    · Hair Stylist Duties & Miscellaneous

    Provide hair cutting services for our clients and serve the role of lead hair stylist.

    Upsell retail products and work towards achieving 20% retail sales goal.

    Additional duties to be added as necessary.

    · Experience

    · At least 5 years experience as a stylist. Experience working with children is a plus.

    · At least 1 year of salon management experience.

    · Demonstrate ability to work within a team and independently to achieve outlined goals.

    · Licensed Cosmetologist.

    · Skills

    · Must be patient and positive with children and all patrons.

    · Independent thinker

    · Strong communications skills.

    · Microsoft Office & Microsoft Excel experience preferred.

    · Understanding of business management and budget management preferred.
