  • Responsibilities

    Job Overview

    A hostess or host greets customers as they enter a restaurant, takes their reservation, or puts them on a waiting list, gives them menus and shows them to their seat. They may also handle phone calls and customer queries about the restaurant and menu and assist various restaurant staff when necessary.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    · Ability to show up to work on time. Tardiness should be reported to the General Manager or manager on duty. Tardiness of more than 5 minutes should be reported to direct supervisor via phone call or text message.

    · Ability to communicate any need for time off. Requests need to be submitted two weeks in advance and cannot be made between November 1st and December 31st.

    · Must have ability to lift 25lbs or more.

    · Ability to stand/walk for 8 or more hours per shift.

    · Greet customers and acknowledge their needs and requests.

    · Opens and close restaurant properly by following any checklists for department.

    · Check in with Manager on duty at beginning of shift.

    · Understands and complies consistently with Reid’s Fine Foods policies and procedures.

    · Promptly report any equipment/product issues to Executive Chef, General Manager, or Manager on duty.

    · Sweep floor and maintain cleanliness throughout shift.

    · Deal with complaints and problems with a positive attitude. If you cannot resolve the issue pass to the manage on duty.

    · Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and deliver orders in a timely manner.

    · A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with bussers, cooks, and other staff.

    · Set up and maintain the cleanliness of the host/hostess stand.

    · Keep glass doors and windows free of fingerprints and smudges.

    · Greet and welcome guests as they approach the host/hostess stand.

    · Find out specifics about party’s needs and seat accordingly.

    · Provide highchairs and booster seats per request.

    · Seating servers fairly to the best of ability.

    · Quoting wait times and taking names for wait list.

    · Update IPad with table availability as they are cleaned.

    · Taking guests to tables and provide menu.

    · Thank guests for coming and encourage them to return.
