Saltmine is a SaaS + Marketplace startup reimagining and rebuilding the entire process by which physical office design is done, from workplace strategy to space planning to design to procurement of furniture and fixtures. This is a massive $300B global industry that is still largely offline and inefficient.
Saltmine has deep roots in both technology and design/architecture, and we have built a first of its kind modern SaaS platform that empowers businesses of any size and their architects and real estate service providers to design more inspiring and efficient space, faster and cheaper. The company is well-funded and headquartered in downtown San Francisco with offices in NYC and Singapore, with roughly 25 employees from the likes of Google, Autodesk, JLL and Gensler and growing rapidly.
We're building a platform that will be used by designers, so we are deeply passionate about building a gorgeous, elegant, adored front end experience.
We're looking for our first Front End Developer to bring this aspiration to life. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for design, has built modern web UI with complex products and has worked in a super fast-paced startup environment. You'll partner closely with product managers and our UX team.
This is a full-time role based in San Francisco.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

- A keen eye for design details and a strong sense of good UX.
- An interest in learning about data-driven web development and how to use that to make more delightful products.
- Experience building clean interfaces that work across different devices and browsers.
- Experience working with designers and other developers to take a project from concept to life.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build the future. Architect full-featured client-side applications across the entire Saltmine platform.
- Use tools like React, Sass, CSS-modules and more to build modular, componentized code.
- Influence design thinking among development team. You have an appreciation for design-thinking and you believe that creating reusable code and consistent user experiences that work well together can empower engineers and designers to create better products.
- Provide input on how to make the products more usable. You will use our analytics tools, user research, and in-house community team to gather information and gain insights as to how people use the product to drive new ideas.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with UX, product managers and engineers to build the first of its kind integrated office space design platform.
- Understand (but never accept) the limitations of existing infrastructure. Venture to any level of abstraction and push beyond the interface if it results in a better deliverable.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive experience developing and shipping web applications with a user-focused mindset.
- Solid knowledge of HTML and CSS; strong command of jQuery and other JavaScript frameworks.
- Experience building front end components with React using modular architecture.
- Knowledge of state management frameworks, such a Redux or Flux.
- Demonstrated design and UX sensibilities.
- Work experience in user experience and interaction design.
- Understanding of XML/JSON, interacting with APIs; familiar with NodeJS.
- BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding, OR equivalent technical experience (recent bootcamp grads most welcome!)
