    Job Description

    Pharmacist - Part-Time Temporary

    Anticipated Assignment dates: 11/10/23-03/31/24

    Performs a professional service in dispensing medication, diagnosis, and treatment of SALUD patients. The Pharmacist approaches his/her tasks in a team-based care fashion that supports patients and their families in a self-management, self-efficacy, and behavior change. This would include patients in the ambulatory setting as well as the corresponding hospital. Adheres to the spirit of the SALUD mission statement while performing assigned duties.

    We offer:

    • Starting hourly pay range is $62.37 to $67.75 per hour
    • Available Mon to Fri - 8 am to 5:30 pm
    • 10 to 20 hours per week (Depending on needs)

    Supervision Received:

    All pharmacists are ultimately under the supervision of the Pharmacy Services Director. The pharmacist also receives administrative supervision from the Pharmacy Operations Director, and the Assistant Pharmacy Operations Director.

    Supervision Exercised:

    The pharmacists exercise supervision over pharmacy staff as assigned. This would include pharmacy technicians and pharmacy clerks.

    Specific Duties:

    • Fills and dispenses prescriptions ordered by clinic physicians according to appropriate protocols for preparing products suitable for patient use including checking patient profiles for incompatible orders and discussing with physicians.
    • Maintains paper/automated prescription records for each patient and updates with appropriate documentation. Monitors drug therapy by evaluating patient medical history for significant drug interactions, adverse reactions, therapeutic drug dosages, and compliance with prescription orders. Compounds medications, using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
    • Works in conjunction with Medical Providers, Dental Providers, Behavioral Health Providers, and all other staff to ensure that patients obtain the highest standard of integrated health care.
    • Acts as a patient advocate for our vulnerable populations by ensuring that patients are fully informed and comfortable with their visit to SALUD
    • Follows procedures for the electronic health records system
    • Directs pharmacy workers engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
    • Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
    • Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
    • Performs final evaluations of all prescription orders as required by law.
    • Assists with inventory control under the direction of the Pharmacy Services Director, including purchasing, receiving, and stocking medication and pharmacy supplies. Complies with governmental and other regulations related to the preparation, packaging, and storage of products.
    • Assays medications to determine identity, purity, and strength.
    • Instructs interns, students, and other medical personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy.
    • Attends and participates in other activities conducted by SALUD (i.e., staff training, educational sessions, meetings, etc.).
    • Helps to ensure compliance with all federal and state, rules and regulations.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    ** Education:**

    Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Pharm D preferred

    ** Experience:**

    Experience working at a Community Health Center pharmacy id preferred

    Licensure:

    **** Possess a license to practice pharmacy in good standing in the State of Colorado

    • Ability to delegate responsibility and authority to staff
    • Ability to communicate clearly
    • Sensitivity to low-income and ethnic minority communities is a must
    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
