SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Graphic Design Intern will contribute to the promotion and visual communication efforts of the San Antonio Botanical Garden. Working closely with the Graphic Designer and Marketing Manager, the Graphic Design Intern will assist in creating captivating designs and visual assets that enhance the Garden's public image. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for individuals pursuing a career in graphic design to gain practical experience in a professional setting. The Graphic Design Intern reports directly to the Marketing Manager.

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS

• Proficiency in graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.)
• Basic knowledge of layouts, typography, line composition, color, and other graphic design fundamentals
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Works well collaboratively or in a team setting
• Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to think creatively with proven attention to detail and work quality
• Ability to work in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment
• Must possess a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and high professionalism

QUALIFICATIONS

• Pursuing a degree in graphic design, digital arts, art, or other related field.
• Currently enrolled in Junior or Senior level graphic design courses

TASKS/FUNCTIONS

• Collaborate with the marketing team to create visually appealing designs for various marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, banners, signage, digital ads, and social media.
• Ensure designs meet the garden's branding guidelines and align with the organization's mission and goals.
• Collaborate with the marketing department to stay current on industry trends, design best practices and emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with the marketing team and stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver designs that meet objectives.
• Incorporate feedback and revisions into design work to produce high-quality final deliverables.
• Help with the organization and management of the garden's digital asset library, ensuring easy access and retrieval of visual resources.

Assists and performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS

The physical demands and characteristics of the work environment described here represent those occurring in performing the essential functions of this job. The intern occasionally may lift and move up to 40 pounds. Although the position is primarily located indoors, the ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions is expected.
