  • Responsibilities

    Position Description: The Social Media and Communications Specialist proactively plans, implements and manages marketing communication projects (including email blasts, newsletters, web content, social media, events, and publications) to build, strengthen, and amplify the chamber’s Brand within the greater San Antonio business community.

    Responsibilities

    • Support VP of Image and Communications in planning and executing programs to elevate the Chamber brand and community awareness.
    • Research, coordinate, write and/or edit content for the Chamber’s marketing and communication channels, including website, blogs, online publications, electronic communications (including weekly newsletter), and print advertisements.
    • Proactively maintain and manage Communications calendar for development of campaigns and promotion of Chamber events and programs.
    • Create, manage and constantly improve corporate website content, visibility and user experience. Deliver a process for making regular updates to website content.
    • Manage Chamber’s social media channels:
      • In coordination with Chamber staff, develop comprehensive social media schedule to ensure regular, appropriate, and timely updates.
      • Write and/or edit and publish messages and design graphics for use on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn to build brand awareness, inform business community of Chamber activities and involvement, and establish the Chamber as a thought leader in general business issues and issues of importance to San Antonio.
      • Track social media results to determine effectiveness of messages.
      • Monitor local social media stories and trends and share with relevant Chamber staff members to keep the Chamber abreast of news and developments in San Antonio and Bexar County.
    • Facilitate the creation, review, and distribution of paid marketing materials published on behalf of members. These materials include sponsored email messaging, social media, and content in weekly newsletter.
    • Assist in facilitating communications during official Chamber events. Tasks include live social media, photography, and videography.
    • Film and edit video content that helps communicate the Chamber’s story.
    • Serve as a project manager for the Chamber’s annual Relocation Guide.
    • Proofread materials as needed.

    ** Education Requirements** :

    Minimum:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or related field or equivalent experience

    ** Previous Experience** :

    • Desired: 2 – 3 years of experience in communications, marketing or related field.

    Skill & Abilities :

    • Strong verbal and written communication, negotiating, and presentation skills
    • Knowledge of database and website content management system
    • Proficient in Microsoft office
    • Proficient in managing corporate Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube
    • Creatively conceptualize, produce, and edit video content
    • Exceptional time management and personal relationship skills
    • Teamwork and collaboration are a must
    • Project management experience
    • Strong customer service skills
    • Desired: Graphic design skills and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite

    Physical Requirements :

    • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

    • Must be able to walk, stand and work for extended hours

    • Must have reliable transportation

    • Must have flexibility for attending or responding to early morning and late meetings and inquiries.
