The San Diego Tourism Authority's (SDTA) mission is to drive visitor demand to economically benefit the San Diego region. Tourism is the second largest segment of San Diego's economy. It is vitally important to the economic health of the region.
The San Diego Tourism Authority is a private, non-profit, corporation composed of approximately 900 member organizations, businesses, local governments, and individuals seeking a better community through the visitor industry. San Diego Tourism Authority members include tourism-related entities in such categories as lodging, dining, arts, attractions, shopping, and transportation, among others, as well as other companies indirectly involved in tourism.
As a sales and marketing organization, the main objective of the San Diego Tourism Authority is to promote and market the San Diego region as a preferred vacation and meeting destination.
We are currently looking for a MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the marketing team, executive team and other SDTA internal departments in the research, development and deployment of content for B2B audiences. The position will work with content agencies; internal and external content contributors and collaborate with Marketing Partnerships on member content initiatives. The position helps develop and coordinates B2B social media communications including Twitter, LinkedIn and the corporate blog as well as executive communications including weekly industry email and social media engagement. The Comm Coordinator will also create content for digital consumer communications including email, website, online promotional programs and special projects as assigned.
SPECIFIC DUTIES • Research content and write stakeholder communications including member announcements, newsletters, monthly highlights, corporate blog, accountability report and other materials as needed. • Coordinate content and editorial calendar to support various programs as set forth by Director, and other departments as needed. • Research, write and edit SDTA produced publications as needed. • Collaborate with the Marketing Partnership team to review member content participation and deploy engagement strategies. Assist in curating member content as needed. • Write and develop promotional materials and programs including email communications, event invitations, collateral and web content for the Sales team. • Assist the executive team with corporate, promotional and event communications and B2B social media tactics. • Assist the Webmaster and Social Media Manager. Act as back-up for both in the management of SDTA’s digital platforms. • Attend events as assigned and facilitate in-the-moment social media deployment and engagement.
• Coordinate and help direct video shoots and edit end product. REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Must have excellent writing skills with the ability to communicate information in a clear and concise manner while maintaining the voice of the San Diego brand. • Hands on experience in social media marketing and channel management. • Ability to meet deadlines and quickly distill a variety of information into consumer friendly or business-to-business communications. • Possess an editorial mindset with the ability to collect information across the organization and organize it for dissemination through the appropriate medium. • Ability to quickly and accurately proofread and edit large amounts of copy and information. • Detail oriented and able to manage numerous projects at the same time. • Ability to work in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment and juggle many projects at once, while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Experience with video shoots and editing a plus.
• BS/BA in related field such as marketing, journalism or communications. Minimum five years of work experience in marketing, public relations or journalism required. Agency background preferred. Background in travel or tourism related industry a strong plus.
