Pretrial Release Specialist I San Francisco Pretrial Diversion Project - San Francisco, CA 94107 SUMMARY The Pretrial Release Specialist I (PRS I) is a training classification to learn all aspects of the PRS II, which includes analyzing pertinent information and data for the criminal justice stakeholders. Absent unusual circumstances, employees must demonstrate satisfactory performance and pass all 3 tests within 12 months of starting in this position in order to remain employed with the organization. The necessary passing qualifications will be determined by SFPDP. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ? Learn to summarize RAP sheets and criminal histories accurately. ? Gather and organize all documents to be submitted to court efficiently and accurately. ? Timely processing of rebooked clients, releases and probable cause as needed. ? Contact clients to advise them of court dates. ? Understand and complete PSA (Public Safety Assessment) tool ? Accurately enter and update client information as needed. ? Learn and utilize all SFPDP, jail, and Court management systems. ? Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance. Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY None QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Education and/or Experience: Minimum High School Diploma. Three years previous paid work experience. Must meet all SFSD jail clearance criteria. Pass and maintain all necessary clearances, including, but not limited to: jail, CLETS, and court clearance. Knowledge of Criminal justice codes for the State of California, such as the Penal Code, Vehicle Code, Health and Safety Code and other applicable California codes are a plus. Functions and procedures of superior courts, of legal and human services agencies, such as Probation, Social Services, Public Defender, Police and Sheriff, including jail operations are also a plus. Language Skills: Read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally with other business departments, clients, and outside agencies. Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism. Technical Skills: Intermediate computers skills required. Minimum 20 words per minute. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, report or schedule form. Other Skills & Abilities: Maintain professional and effective working relationships with public agencies, judicial staff and peer workers. Interact effectively with people of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Must be able to work in a collaborative environment with minimal supervision. Ability to multi-task. Excellent organizational skills. Equipment/Machinery: Operate equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, fax machine, copier, phone, security system, door locks. PHYSICAL DEMANDS * Stand and walk or sit alternatively depending on specific needs of day. Estimate 20% of time is spent on feet and 80% sitting at desk. * Have occasional need to perform the following physical activities: bending/stooping/squatting, climbing stairs, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting and reaching above shoulders. * Have occasional need to perform standing and walking activities. * Constant need to perform the following physical activities: writing/typing, grasping/turning, finger dexterity. * Lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs frequently and 25 lbs occasionally. * Vision requirements: constant need to complete forms, read reports, view computer screen. Frequent need to see small detail. Frequent need to see things clearly beyond arm's reach. * Hearing requirements: constant need to communicate over telephone and in person. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS * Employees at all levels must be able to work a flexible schedule requiring weekend assignments. WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
