    The RESEARCH COMPLIANCE ADMINISTRATOR oversees the day-to-day processes of Financial Conflicts of Interest (FCOI) and Conflicts of Commitment (COC), export controls and policy development/implementation related to relationships between Sanford Burnham Prebys, its faculty and researchers and outside entities.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Contributes to the development and implementation of institutional policies, procedures, guidelines and programs that enable the conduct of research and manage determined processes
    • Ensures researcher compliance with regulatory requirements and maintains documentation of compliance activities
    • Assists with the implementation of SBP’s policies on FCOI, COC and export controls, and provides guidance and resolution with non-compliance inquiries and investigations
    • Manages the relationship between the compliance office and other SBP departments, such as SRO, Research Accounting, and IP to develop and coordinate the educational and training programs which focus on the required elements of the compliance program
    • Delivers training presentations to researchers and other administrative staff
    • Ensures all appropriate employees and managers are made aware of pertinent policies and federal standards
    • Maintains institutional requirements to ensure all regulatory policies and procedures have been documented, implemented, and communicated appropriately
    • Serves as a resource and responds to questions and concerns from the institutional community concerning the interpretation of policies and their application to individual circumstances
    • Participates in the development and design for the institutional database (InfoEd FCOI module) to accommodate needs of FCOI and COC disclosure processes
    • Oversees the logistics and collection of documentation required in preparation for COI committee meetings
    • Manages day-to-day assistance regarding export control issues
    • Assists with needs to develop and or manage related ad-hoc projects

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Four years’ experience related to research/regulatory compliance issues OR an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained; six year’s experience preferred
    • Bachelor’s or other related degree preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

    • Working knowledge of NIH FCOI regulations required
    • Working knowledge of 2 CFR 200 (aka Uniform Guidance) required
    • Knowledge of sponsored research related policies required
    • Work independently as well as in a team environment
    • Able to exercise sound judgment and facilitate accurate and timely decisions that comport with Institute objectives and federal regulations
    • Be responsible and have strong time management skills
    • Able to analyze and resolve issues of moderate complexity
    • Possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Demonstrate professional communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the Institute
    • Able to handle highly complex and confidential information with discretion
    • Professional proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry, data management report generation and general buisenss processes
