  • Responsibilities

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of locomotives and/or rail cars to assure they are safely maintained in a quality, cost effective manner. Other responsibilities include the managing of locomotive, service track and/or car shop operations. Responsible for responding and managing service interruptions within the terminal and on mainline. Managing special projects in support of mechanical operations; personnel management; meeting objectives to support shop and terminal production plans; and ensuring all work is being performed within company guidelines, safety rules, and practices not to mention regulations FRA and AAR standards.

     

    JOB DUTIES:

    • Manage locomotive and/or rail car operations including; shop, terminal and service track. - Monitor safety, quality and production performance in shop, terminal and service track. - Communication with appropriate parties of all aspects of shop, terminal and service track capacity, daily plan & shift turnover documentation to ensure plan execution (conference calls, schedule adjustments, staging plans, terminal interaction, inspection and other duties as assigned. - Monitor and maintain locomotive and/or rail car dwell. - Work with transportation team to develop operation plan and ensure all SLA are met. - Audit equipment reports daily, and inspect equipment on a regular basis to ensure compliance. - Ensure compliance with KCS RR and equal employment policies, safety and operating rules, schedule agreements, attendance guidelines, and Government regulations.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma - General Studies;
    • 3year(s) - Rail Car and/or Locomotive experience shop, service track, service interruptions, rerailing and analysis experience;
    • 3year(s) - Rail car and/or Locomotive troubleshooting experience;
    • or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

     

     

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

    • 3 years mechanical expertise specific to {type of shop – Railcar or Locomotive}
