SBP is a preeminent, independent biomedical research institute dedicated to understanding human biology and disease, and advancing scientific discoveries to profoundly impact human health. For over 40 years, our research has produced breakthroughs in cancer, neuroscience, immunology and children’s diseases, and is anchored by our NCI-designated cancer center and advanced drug discovery capabilities.

A unique postdoctoral training opportunity is available in the Conrad Prebys Center for Chemical Genomics, the state-of-the art drug discovery center at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute.  Our vision is to be the world’s leading academic drug discovery and development organization, an epicenter for innovative approaches to enable chemical biology and accelerate the discovery of new drugs to help save lives and treat disease. This is an exciting opportunity to directly support biomedical and drug discovery projects with an end goal of ultimately benefiting patients.

The Postdoctoral Associate will focus on translational research projects in the area of neurodegenerative diseases through development and use of cell-based and biochemical cutting-edge approaches monitoring protein-protein interactions, protein stability and cellular functions of novel molecular targets recently found linked to neurodegeneration. These approaches will enable high-throughput screening and conventional laboratory methods to identify and confirm small molecule compounds modulating activities of these targets and utilize them for chemical biology and drug discovery studies with a goal to establish new approaches to combat neurodegenerative disorders. The Postdoc will have ample opportunities to work in interdisciplinary teams and individually and interact with and learn from peers and key opinion leaders in the field benefitting from their broad expertise gained in academia and major biotech and pharmaceutical companies.
