JOB SUMMARY

This position will organize testing and implementation of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) with customers that are new to EDI, as well as observe all inbound and outbound records and work with trading partners to resolve any functional issues. This position will also support EDI testing for internal projects, and maintain a matrix of EDI activity.

Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction. Solves a range of moderately complex problems. Leads discussion with Customer and provides Subject Matter Expertise on projects impacted by EDI Provides informal guidance to team members with less experience. Contributes to department objectives and outcomes as guided.

JOB DUTIES

• Establishes communication between trading partner and KCS via EDI.
• Works with trading partner to identify what type of data they want to exchange.
• Ensures that data in current EDI messages (inbound and outbound) is within EDI guidelines and accurate.
• Analyzes the data within the EDI and assist business owners in verifying the data maps to our application correctly.
• Observes records for failures (syntactically and application) and work with trading partner to resolve.
• Ensures EDI requirements are met when new processes are being established within the origination.
• Assists with testing to observe EDI messages generated or processed.
• Supports Production On-Call 24x7 on a scheduled timeframe as needed.
• Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Associates' degree
• Minimum two (2) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Power BI required
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, handbooks and procedure manuals
• Ability to write simple sentences, paragraphs and correspondence
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• This position has a regular full time schedule with a normal work week of Monday through Friday. There may be a need for occasional work after hours or weekends.
• This position may require minimal travel up to 10% of the time.
