    SBP is a preeminent, independent biomedical research institute dedicated to understanding human biology and disease, and advancing scientific discoveries to profoundly impact human health. For over 40 years, our research has produced breakthroughs in cancer, neuroscience, immunology and children’s diseases, and is anchored by our NCI-designated cancer center and advanced drug discovery capabilities.

     

    A POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Maria Diaz-Meco. The overall goal of Dr. Diaz-Meco's laboratory is to study metabolism and inflammation in the context of prostate cancer (Pca), with the aim of understanding the biology of this disease and to identify potentially novel therapeutic targets.

    The Postdoctoral Associate will study the role of epigenetic and metabolic reprogramming in lineage plasticity and therapy resistance in prostate cancer.  The project is based on our recent publication on this topic: Reina-Campos et al., 2019, CANCER CELL [https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ccell.2019.01.018].

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Independently design and perform experiments and procedures with high degree of complexity
    • Demonstrate flexibility in adapting methods and skills according to evolving project priorities
    • Provide independent experimental design and planning
    • Be able to analyze and interpret data from different sources and draw relevant conclusions
    • Demonstrate knowledge in relevant specialized disciplines
    • Be able to present results at internal and external meetings
    • Accurately document experiments
    • Contribute to writing of reports and manuscripts with increasing responsibility over time
    • Work collaboratively across lab functions and train other junior lab staff as needed

     

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Ph.D. degree in biological science is required
    • The qualified candidate should have expertise in this area and experience in mouse models

    • Highly motivated and enthusiastic interest in this very competitive topic
    • The ability to work independently and to handle multiple projects and deadlines
    • Demonstrated ability to work in an interactive and collaborative team
    • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
