    POSITION SUMMARY:

    To translate customer orders into a QAD production schedule and to work with Materials Manager when fluctuations in customer demand require a change to the production schedule.  To ensure production schedules adequately maintain desired inventory levels (WIP and FGI) while meeting customer requirements on time.  To order, through QAD releases, parts needed to support production requirements and schedules.  To monitor/verify inventory levels, inventory transactions (including production reporting) through QAD reports, Excel spreadsheets, and cycle count transactions.  To monitor plant layouts, internal container needs vs. have and development of std. packs. 

     

    JOB TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The following job/task functions have been identified as the core functions of this position.  However, the supervisor or manager may assign additional duties associated with this position.

    Oversees both Receiving and Material Planning functions.  Assist in the creation of processes and verification that processes are being followed.

    Verification that all Material Planning functions have been followed per department processes.

    Monitor changes in customer requirements on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure production schedules and operating plans are adequate (not over and under-stated)

    Daily maintenance of production schedules and communication with Materials Dept. and Operations through assigned avenues (Visual Management)

    Monitor inventory levels in both WIP and FGI ensuring they remain within pre-determined tolerances. 

    Coordinate Engineering Changes with Shipping and Material Planning to ensure dates and quantities are met

    Conduct/request, monitor, and analyze cycle counts and inventory accuracy.

    Prepare daily/weekly/monthly Supplier Performance reports.

    Verification of production paperwork.

    Monitor material incoming/outgoing from suppliers. 

    Schedule trucks incoming/outgoing from suppliers, venders, etc.

    Enter/monitor daily scrap reports

    Maintain Supplier files

    Create/maintain QAD production schedules, as assigned.

    Participate in Dept. cross-training activities, as assigned.

    Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.)

    Able and willing to work any shift assigned, weekends and overtime

    Cross coordinate with corporate purchasing and corporate materials

    Sustain and maintain supplier relationships

    Maintain Outside Processor reports

    Send supplier releases on a weekly basis

    Oversee supplier releases v. incoming receipts

    Regular and predictable attendance required

    Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor

    Required Skills

    Valid and current driver’s license with an acceptable record

    Excellent verbal/written skills

    Ability to coordinate multiple tasks at the same time

    Extended Experience in Automotive Materials Department as it pertains to Scheduling, Materials Planning, inventory analysis, etc.
