    _SBP is a preeminent, independent biomedical research institute dedicated to understanding human biology and disease, and advancing scientific discoveries to profoundly impact human health. _ 

    A RESEARCH ASSOCIATE I/II position is available in the Wechsler-Reya Lab.

    The Wechsler-Reya laboratory studies normal brain development and brain tumor formation. Using transgenic and transplantation-based models, the lab investigates the fate of normal stem cells, the ability these cells to give rise to tumors, and the mechanisms that allow tumor progression and metastasis. The long-term goal is to develop more effective approaches to therapy of medulloblastoma and other childhood brain tumors.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Assists with ongoing research projects in the lab, including writing protocols
    • Manages assigned smaller projects
    • Documents data, completes data analysis, and compiles weekly laboratory reports
    • Provides interpretations and analysis of results
    • Troubleshoots and develops solutions 
    • Follows protocols for compliance with animal and safety regulations

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in biological science or related field and three years’ relevant lab experience or Master's degree in biological science or related field is required. 
    • Candidates with a minimum of Bachelor's degree in biological science or related field and five or more year's relevant experience may be considered for Level II 
    • Previous experience in neuroscience, developmental biology and/or cancer biology would be a plus
    • Experience working with research mice, including small animal surgery, is highly desired

    Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

    • Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment and safety protocols is preferred
    • Demonstrated success of working in a team environment
    • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Professional proficiency in Microsoft Office
