    Title: Part-time Director of Public School Partnerships and Student Engagement ****

    Reports to : Dean, The School of Education

    Job Summary:

    The Director will be a Mission and Vision driven leader who is attuned to challenges and opportunities in the field of education. The Director will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and growing high quality partnerships that support public schools while building enrollments for the School of Education. This position will focus on public schools, but the director should be adept at fostering similar partnerships with independent nonsectarian schools as opportunities arise.


    Essential Functions:

    Strategic Partnerships

    • Cultivate and manage relationships with district and school leaders to ascertain the need for additional licensure fields sought by classroom teachers and school building and school district leaders
    • Develop cohorts of in-service educators who want to earn advanced credentials at St. John’s
    • Build relationships with teachers and students, mostly at the high school level, to help consider teaching as an occupation and St. John’s as the destination for their preparation (future teacher clubs, for example)
    • Identify and develop partnerships with local P-12 schools, school districts, and educational centers to support placement for students’ pre-clinical and clinical experiences
    • Act as a representative of the university, facilitating the recruitment of students for non-SOE programs
    • Coordinate social activities with alumni and other community partners to foster potential partnerships
    • Organize and cultivate alumni networks to assist with the development of partnerships
    • Collaborate with Enrollment Management to track efficacy of partnerships aligned with the strategic plan and enrollment goals of The School of Education and the university

    Initiatives

    • Develop and coordinate all partnership initiatives, including summer professional development programming
    • Generate vetting and monitoring tool to assess goals met and level of engagement with school partners and other educational organizations
    • Collaborate with other academic units and university offices to offer potential partners additional opportunities and services

    Competencies:

    • Demonstrated experience with relationship management and operationalized partnership strategies

    • Track record of effectively leading a team
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that engage a range of stakeholders and cultures
    • Proven leadership and supervision experience within a N-12 setting and educational entities
    • Well versed in NYS certification shortage areas and NYS communication with IHEs/schools
    • Moderate technical skills that enable the Director to communicate via various digital platforms, work with electronic modes of creating, archiving and sharing documents

    Work Environment

    • The Director will be in the field connecting with potential partners (80%)
    • Office space will be provided for the Director when on campus (20%)

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is to travel to school sites either by using personal mode of transportation or public transportation.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    The position is part time and usually 20 hours per week, some evenings or weekends may be required

    Travel

    Travel is primarily local and may include visits to the other NY campuses; some travel is out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Master’s degree
    • 5 years teaching experience
    • 5-10 years related experience as a school-level leader, school building leader and/or district leader
    • Experience working with institutions of higher education
    • Experience working with state agencies
    • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications, Outlook, Teams, Webex

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    Indicate preferred education and experience based on requirements that are job related and consistent with needs of the department. Include a specific degree(s) where preferred. See example below.

    • Terminal degree in related field (Ph.D., Ed.D.)
    • Minimum five years’ experience as a school building or school district leader in Queens or Long Island

    Other Duties

    • May be asked to provide information and updates at leadership meetings (Deans, faculty)

    In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly salary for this position is $50 per hour.     This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
