    The RESEARCH ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR III/SPECIALIST serves as the primary point of contact and coordinates institutional support to faculty, their laboratories and acts as a liaison with other departments. They receive direction from faculty and/or the department’s director providing coordination of sponsored research, publications, organizes events and office/lab support.

    Supporting the research laboratory, this individual will coordinate the grant application processes; coordinate daily operations of the lab; assist with manuscript preparation and editorial responsibilities as needed; and perform other related duties and tasks as required or assigned. This position directly supports one faculty member.


    • Coordinates general administrative support for faculty and laboratories
    • Coordinates daily office and lab operations
    • Coordination of the grant application (pre-award and post-award) processes
    • Coordinates manuscript submissions
    • Coordinates and schedules special events, meetings and seminars
    • Coordinates expense reports and statements
    • Coordinates personnel activities with Human Resources
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • High School Diploma and six years of experience in grant administration required or equivalent education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.

    • Bachelor’s degree and eight years of experience in administrative support of faculty, executives or high-level management required

    • Experience in grants management may be preferred

    • Previous experience in an academic or scientific research environment (preferred)

    • In depth knowledge of research administration guidelines for Federal and non-Federal sponsors

    • Professional proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator and Photoshop

    • Ability to coordinate multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity

    • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

    • Strong problem solving, analytical, organizational and time management skills

    • Ability to work under pressure, ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion/judgement

    • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills

    • Ability to learn and achieve proficiency with internal systems
