  • Responsibilities

    Sanford Burnham Prebys is a preeminent, independent biomedical research institute dedicated to understanding human biology and disease, and advancing scientific discoveries to profoundly impact human health. 

    The Ronai laboratory research is directed toward understanding the regulation and function of the signaling pathways, which play a central role in melanoma development and its interaction with the immune system. In particular, they are interested in ubiquitin ligases that affect key cellular functions including unfolded protein response, which in turn affect tumor immunity. 

    A RESEARCH ASSISTANT I/II position is available in the Ronai laboratory.  The Research Assistant will contribute to the completion of diverse tasks, laboratory procedures, practices, and protocols under specific direction. 

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments or day-to-day work
    • Assists with experiments and performing lab techniques
    • Keeps written records of experiments and data organization
    • Troubleshoots problems and develops solutions
    • Provides interpretation and analysis of results

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in a biological science, chemistry or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been attained, is required
    • Candidates with one year or more of relevant lab experience may be considered for Level II
    • Experience working with genetic mouse models, cell-culture and cloning is preferred

    • Work independently as well as in a team environment
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Be responsible and have strong time management skills
    • Possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Professional proficiency in Microsoft Office
