  • Responsibilities

    Sanford Rose is looking for a skilled AP-Bookkeeper for a reputable client in the Detroit, MI area on a TEMPORARY TO HIRE basis. You will maintain their financial records, including accounts payable invoicing, general ledger, and reconciliations. You will work closely with our accounting team to create and analyze financial reports and ensure legal requirements compliance, process accounts payable and receivable and manage invoices and tax payments. Ultimately, the AP-Bookkeeper’s responsibilities are to accurately record all day-to-day financial transactions of our company.

    Responsibilities

    • Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process
    • Timely and accurate payment of all supplier invoices to ensure the company maximizes discounts
    • Prevents credit holds from suppliers, avoids penalty charges, ensures payments are properly approved and authorized via internal controls to maximize cash flow for the corporation
    • Working with multiple departments and suppliers to resolve any issues associated with invoice payments and adjustments
    • Establish and maintain relationships and channels of communication with the Merchandising Teams and Vendor community
    • Ability to recommend system or process enhancements to improve department efficiencies and enhance accuracy and controls over the payment process

    Skills

    • Proven accounts payable and general accounting experience
    • Knowledge of SAP Accounts Payable and General Ledger systems
    • The preferred background is a manufacturing/corporate background
    • Preferred: BS degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
    • Intermediate/Advanced Excel - Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP's, Formulas
    • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
    • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
    • Proficiency in English and in MS Office
    • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
    • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
