    Job Description

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The primary responsibility of the Senior Buyer is to help lead the department in selection, negotiation, and procurement of merchandise and commodities for resale or property use. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Saracen Casino Resort’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for the purchasing and negotiating of merchandise and commodities for resale or property use. • Performs comprehensive evaluations vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers. • Summarizes sourcing recommendations and be able to convince stakeholders of sourcing recommendations. • Interfaces with user departments as the procurement specialist that helps management make the right procurement decisions. • Locate and interview potential vendors/suppliers. • Invite quotations, examine bids, and make recommendations on awarding of bids. • Write detailed specifications for invitations to bids. • Maintain and use a variety of catalogs, specifications and price cards to departments in identifying appropriate goods and services to locate suppliers. • Follow up on purchases to ensure timely receipt of proper quantity and quality. • Investigate complaints and assist in there resolution. • Assist in the development of new or revised specifications. • Watch general economic conditions to anticipate consumer buyer patterns. • Follow competitor prices and activities. • Constantly stay informed of the latest industry trends. • Track marketing conditions, price trends or future markets. • Keep abreast of changes affecting both supply and demand of products. • Attend seminars, meetings, and programs to keep updated on new product offerings and any changes in prices. • Report weekly or as directed on progress of assigned projects. • Maintain compliance to Internal Control requirements. • Stay abreast of contracts to insure correct amount of product/service is received at the appropriate time

    Seek the highest quality merchandise at the best price for resale. • Maintain current vendor certificate of insurance for liability purpose from all vendors to verify compliance to Tribe’s policy. • Participate in short and long term strategic planning. • Promote and adhere to Ethical Purchasing Standards. • Provides exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicates in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner at all times. Maintains a professional work environment with supervisors and staff. • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies. • Attends all necessary training meetings. • Assist in other projects, as directed. • Duties, responsibilities, requirements and expectations pertaining to this job are subject to change as needed.     QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age or older upon employment. • High school graduate or equivalent. • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Accounting preferred. • Minimum of five years of buying experience. • Knowledge of Market conditions and sources of supply, purchasing laws, and regulations is required. Must be willing and able to obtain education as requested/needed on Contract Law, Business Law, Indian Law and UCC Regulations as well as other Purchasing related Seminars. • A.P.P (Accredited Purchasing Practitioner) Certification is preferred. • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. • Knowledge of MMS (Material Management Systems) Software from Agilysys preferred. • Must present a well-groomed and professional appearance. • Must possess excellent communication skills. • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues. • Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees and customers

    Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees. • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner. • Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid gaming license. • Work nights, weekends and holidays as required. • Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation.
