    About the role We are seeking an experienced Catering and Events Cook to join the Savory team. Our ideal candidate will anticipate and address the needs of the company and our client partners with a focus on order fulfillment, quality control, presentation and plating, and delivering high-end final products while maintaining a high standard of hygiene and safety in accordance with the Department of Health and Savory standards.

    This role is a key addition to our growing team. Here are some examples of the primary responsibilities of our Catering and Events Cook:

    Lead a station, coordinating with other employees to follow recipes to exact specifications while maintaining a high standard of excellence at every step of the process and delivering on time

    Travel to onsite locations as required and serve as an ambassador of the Savory brand

    Cooperate with the executive and sous chefs to work as a team

    Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh and of the high-quality standards expected of Savory

    Exemplify and train staff as needed on best practices of food safety and storage in accordance with NY Department of Health requirements, with particular regard to the safe cooking, cooling, and storing of large-scale and batch-production food

    Maintain clean, sanitized, and safe work areas, including handling utensils, equipment, and dishes as well as executing opening and closing procedures

    Monitor station inventory levels and contribute to monthly inventory counting

    Collaborate with our executive events chef and Director of Culinary on recipe research and development as directed

    Other duties as assigned to support the culinary team

    Your experience should show us the following:

    At least 5 years of experience cooking in a restaurant or high-scale events catering kitchen

    Proven ability to work as part of a team, lead a station or project, and collaborate between teams on complex and large-scale projects

    Expert manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and knife skills, including techniques for chopping, slicing, cutting, julienne, chiffonade, and dicing

    Advanced culinary ability demonstrating techniques including, but not limited to: sous vide cooking methods, braising, slow roasting, emulsification, and stellar presentation abilities

    Excellent time management and organization

    Open communicator across levels and departments

    A calm, positive, and productive demeanor while operating in a high-volume kitchen

    A growth-oriented mindset with a focus on upward movement

    Job requirements

    Capability to maintain a stationary position, often standing for prolonged periods in varying temperature conditions

    Basic understanding of spoken and written English

    Ability to lift up to 50lbs, ability to repeatedly lift up to 25lbs

    DOH Food Handler’s certificate preferred

    Willingness to work a flexible schedule daytime Monday – Friday and occasionally including nights, weekends, or holidays
