Scale House Operator: Day-to-Day Duties and Responsibilities
The Scale House Operator is a critical front-line role responsible for the efficient and accurate management of all inbound and outbound quarry traffic and administrative tasks within the scale house facility.
Core Responsibilities:
- Truck Scaling and Ticketing:
- Operate the quarry ticketing system Fast Weigh software to accurately weigh, record, and process all trucks entering and exiting the quarry.
- Ensure strict attention to detail in recording weights, materials, and customer information.
- Cash Handling and Clerical Tasks:
- Collect payments, issue receipts, and perform other basic clerical and administrative duties.
- Manage cash handling procedures and balance daily transactions as required.
- Site Operations and Safety Monitoring:
- Monitor trucks and drivers to ensure strict adherence to all quarry rules and safety protocols.
- Perform light maintenance and cleaning of the scale house site and surrounding area to maintain a safe and tidy work environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Computer Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook), general office phone systems, and the ability to quickly learn proprietary online software (e.g., FastWeigh).
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with drivers, customers, and management.
- Customer Service: Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service to all visitors and drivers.
Work Environment and Requirements:
- Work Ethic: Must be punctual, reliable, and possess a strong, diligent work ethic.
- Multitasking: Ability to multitask effectively and maintain accuracy while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
