At Scale we provide a 360 holistic approach to health and wellness to people looking to improve their quality of life and overall health. We create educational material about health topics and sell a suite of original product formulas online to address common health concerns, based on clinical trials and with the help of doctors that we partner with.

As an online company, our operations rely heavily on technology. We are looking for an experienced full stack web developer to join our development team, in the midst of exciting growth for our company. The team is currently working on expanding the functionality of our in-house built eCommerce platform (based on the Zend Framework), improving the user experience of our eCommerce websites, while enhancing the security, stability and robustness of our technology stack. We use Linux, Nginx, MySQL and PHP to power our backend, and are currently in the process of switching to React for all frontend-related needs.

The ideal candidate would feel comfortable contributing to an engaged team of developers of a mid-sized eCommerce company (we’re 120+ people strong), take ownership of the stability and performance of our online properties and participate in conceptualizing and planning new technical developments to help the company grow.

What you’ll do

• Design/develop new system features (backend and frontend) using best practices
• Create pixel-perfect web front-end based on designs from our in-house design team
• Extend and optimize current backend functionality to keep our platform running at optimal performance and adhering to our coding standards
• Connect our in-house platform to external interfaces and process data according to the projects needs
• Work with our coding, documenting, deployment and QA standards to ensure every piece of code you write is of high standard

Qualifications

• At least 2 years experience developing web applications
• 1+ years of PHP experience with an MVC framework, preferably Zend
• Solid JavaScript experience (vanilla and using frontend libraries/frameworks such as jQuery/React/etc.)
• Strong knowledge of CSS3 and responsive methodologies
• Experience working with databases and SQL (MySQL)
• Experience with APIs and web-services
• Solid knowledge of testing principles
• Experience with version control systems (Git)
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
