About the Position:
The Dog Groomer is an integral position at Scenthound, offering expert grooming knowledge, providing leadership to Dog Bathers, and helping facilitate their training to become groomers. The starting pay rate for this position is $20/per hour with a guarantee of at least $2/hour in tips. However, tips for this position currently range from $5-7 per hour.
This position requires:
At least 1 year of grooming experience or graduation from a grooming school
Knowledge of dog breeds, their grooming and care standards, and tools of the trade
Strength to lift up to 70 pounds; stamina to stand for long periods of time
Willingness to groom to Scenthound standards
Willingness to teach others
Who We Are Looking For:
We are searching for a confident Dog Groomer who loves teaching their passion to others! A successful Groomer is knowledgeable about the industry, dog breeds, patient, and a compassionate dog lover. We are looking for a Groomer who is willing to lead by example and will serve as the expert on dogs and dog safety in our store. Scenthound is a dog health and wellness based company, and we do not offer specialty or "boutique-style" haircuts. Our Basic Hygiene service, as well as our haircuts are designed to help dog parents keep their pups clean and healthy through routine care. Although we may offer a few exceptions such as a clean face or Schnauzer head, our cuts are an all-over, one-length cut with a teddy bear head.
Tasks:
Groom to Scenthound standards while providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the grooming and bathing teams
Create an environment conducive to learning, open communication, and teamwork
Help teach new groomers the Scenthound standards; provide ongoing coaching and mentorship
Identify when/where help is needed and provide assistance to keep Scenter on schedule
Ensure safety of dogs and team members at all times
Adhere to Scenthound sanitary and cleaning practices
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Scenter Manager

Orientation and training will occur in our Herriman location at 5414 W Daybreak Parkway, ahead of opening our new Scenter in South Jordan at 10479 S Redwood Road. Groomers may be scheduled at one or both locations beginning in April.
