Estimator/Purchasing Specialist (Sawtooth Concepts Custom Cabinets)Location US-ID-MeridianPosted Date 2 weeks ago(5/21/2018 12:13 PM)Job ID 2018-2041 Overview Sawtooth Concepts is looking to hire an Estimator/Purchasing Specialist to prepare cost estimates for commercial and residential cabinet construction and installation projects. In addition, the Estimator/Purchasing Specialist may assemble and finish custom cabinets. Construction related estimating/purchasing experience strongly preferred. This is a Full-Time position (Mon-Fri) with some opportunity for overtime. As a sister company to Scentsy, Inc., we provide excellent benefits and competitive wages. Responsibilities THINGS YOU WOULD DO:Review and analyze documents and blueprints to make informed estimates of time, cost, materials, and labor for projectsCollaborate with Business Manager, Project Coordinator, and Shop Forman to formulate estimates and resolve issuesIdentify potential impacts to project costs, productivity, and scheduleCompile detailed lists of material costs, labor rates, equipment needs, etc.Review and compile final estimates to ensure accuracyTrack and review actual costs as projects developAdditional Duties and Responsibilities:On an as-needed basis: assemble cabinet parts with glue, nails, or other fasteners and fit, and clamp parts and subassemblies together to form unitsTrim component parts of joints to ensure snug fit using hand tools such as planes, chisels, or wood filesSand and scrape surfaces and joints to prepare components for finishingInstall hardware such as hinges, catches, and drawer pullsRestock parts and hardware, unload, sort, and put away materials in the shopClean and maintain shop work areas, including machinery and tools, to ensure a safe working environmentPerform all other assigned tasks and requirements as needed KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESKnowledge of commercial and residential construction principles, documents, techniques, and proceduresAbility to effectively present information in oral and writtenMust be able to demonstrate skills in organizing and evaluating informationStrong critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skillsStrong attention to detailAbility to read and understand blue prints, architectural plans and specificationsKnowledge of software programs including Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft ProjectMust be a highly-motivated problem solver capable of developing solutions and seeing them through to completionMust have solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-managementAbility to work well with a teamStrong mathematics skillsAdhere to all established procedures, policies, and safety rules as outlined by the CompanyAble to work 40 hours per week; some overtime may be requiredAt times work may be sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking up to 10% of the timeAbility to frequently stand, bend, squat, walk, reach above shoulder level, perform repetitive manual dexterity, have both arms and legs accessible and occasionally, sit, and crawlMust be able to lift and move up to 100 lbs. safely throughout the facility repeatedlYAbility to ascend and descend stairs, step stools, ladders, scaffolding, platform ladders or mechanically elevated devices Qualifications YOU SHOULD HAVE:Bachelors degree or equivalent experience1 year of experience estimating project cost and ordering materials for the construction trades industryCabinetmaking experience in a production environment or other closely related production woodworking experience Working Conditions:Work is performed in a production environment. Lighting and temperature are adequate. While performing this job, employees frequently work near machinery, moving mechanical parts, and warehouse equipment (e.g. forklifts and pulleys).
