Join our dynamic educational team as a School-Based Occupational Therapist Manager, where you will lead and coordinate occupational therapy services within a non-public school to support student success and well-being. This pivotal role combines clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring that students with diverse needs receive tailored interventions that promote independence, participation, and overall development. As a key advocate for student health and education, you will oversee therapy programs, supervise staff, and collaborate with educators, families, and healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive care in the school environment.
Responsibilities
Manage and oversee the delivery of occupational therapy services within school settings, ensuring compliance with educational and healthcare standards.
Supervise a team of occupational therapists and therapy assistants, providing mentorship, and performance evaluations.
Develop individualized care plans for students with disabilities.
Coordinate case management to ensure seamless transitions for students moving between different care environments or returning to school.
Collaborate closely with teachers, speech therapists, physical therapists, and other multidisciplinary teams to create integrated support plans.
Assist students with Activities of Daily Living, sensory processing issues, motor skills development, and other functional goals tailored to each student’s needs.
Conduct OT assessments and write up reports.
Ensure documentation of care plans, progress notes, and compliance reports are accurate and up-to-date.
Promote a positive learning environment by fostering teamwork and advocating for student-centered practices aligned with best clinical standards.
Skills
Extensive knowledge of occupational therapy practices including assisting with ADLs and discharge planning.
Proven experience working with children with autism, disabilities, or in early intervention programs.
Strong background in acute care settings such as ICU or skilled nursing facilities; familiarity with post-acute care is advantageous.
Experience in pediatrics and geriatrics within inpatient, outpatient, clinic, or school environments.
Ability to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to individual student needs while managing caseloads efficiently.
Excellent case management skills combined with a thorough understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy knowledge, and patient care principles.
Skilled in collaborating across multidisciplinary teams including speech therapy professionals and other healthcare providers.
Exceptional communication skills to engage effectively with students, families, educators, and healthcare teams.
Leadership qualities necessary for supervising staff while maintaining high standards of clinical excellence.
