What We’re Looking For:
Are you a passionate school-based Social Worker eager to make an impact? If so, we’d love to have you on our team. Here’s what you’ll need:
Education: A master’s degree or higher in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program is required.
Licensure: An active license to practice as a School Social Worker in Colorado, such as a Colorado Department of Education Special Services Provider License with a School Social Worker endorsement.
Experience: Previous experience working in schools or with children and adolescents is preferred. Completion of a school-based internship is highly beneficial.
Language Proficiency: Bilingual skills are preferred but not mandatory.
Your Role:
As a school-based Social Worker, you will play a critical role in supporting students’ emotional, social, and educational well-being. By collaborating with educators, families, and community resources, you will ensure students have the tools and support they need to thrive. Key responsibilities include:
Conduct Assessments: Evaluate students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs to identify barriers to learning and recommend appropriate interventions.
Provide Counseling: Deliver individual and group counseling to address issues such as mental health, social skills, and family dynamics, as outlined in students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or other support plans.
Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with teachers, administrators, special education teams, and other staff to create a supportive learning environment for students.
Develop Interventions: Implement evidence-based strategies to address students’ challenges, enhance coping skills, and improve academic and social outcomes.
Engage Families: Partner with families to provide guidance, resources, and referrals to community services that support students’ well-being.
Advocate for Students: Ensure students have equitable access to education by advocating for accommodations, resources, and services they need to succeed.
Monitor Progress: Track and document student progress, using data to refine interventions and provide reports during IEP meetings or other team discussions.
Promote Positive School Climate: Contribute to initiatives that foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment, such as anti-bullying programs, crisis intervention, and social-emotional learning activities.
