As a School Bus Attendant at Barr Transportation, you will play a crucial role in ensuring student safety and maintaining a positive environment during school transportation. This is a safety-sensitive position because you are responsible for the care and supervision of students while the vehicle is in motion, and any impairment could create a significant risk of harm.

School bus attendants must be patient, attentive, and able to manage student behavior while supporting the bus driver’s focus on safe vehicle operation.

Responsibilities

Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus safely

Monitor student behavior and maintain order during transit

Support students with special needs, including operating wheelchair lifts and securement systems

Assist with emergency evacuations and follow safety procedures

Communicate effectively with drivers, parents, and school staff

Help create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all riders

Requirements

This role is classified as a safety-sensitive position

Minimum age: 18 years

Valid driver’s license or state-issued identification, plus work authorization

High school diploma or equivalent

Ability to pass required background checks and drug testing

Ability to work split shifts (AM/PM) daily

Experience working with children (preferred)

Strong attention to safety and student supervision
