Job Description
KIPP Chicago is seeking a School Custodian. The Custodians ensures school facilities are kept in clean, safe condition for students and staff in coordination with other custodians.
The responsibilities specific to the Custodian are:
_ Janitorial_
Opening and/or closing building
Daily cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting of bathrooms, classrooms, common areas, exterior grounds, hallways, offices, etc.
Follow all school-wide Covid-19 safety procedures and policies
Restocking cleaning equipment and supplies
Responding to occasional student accidents, including blood, urine, and vomit
Preparing facilities for special events and visitors
Other duties as assigned by the Lead Custodian
Sense of urgency and high quality work as it relates to maintaining a clean facility
Customer Service
Resolving staff requests efficiently and politely
Responding to emergencies with a sense of urgency
Qualifications
The ideal Custodian will:
Have two or more years successful custodial/maintenance experience (required)
Be able to perform basic physical activity, including lifting items UP TO 50 pounds and frequent bending, climbing, standing, and walking (required)
Be able to work in an environment featuring chemicals and cleaning solutions, dust, inclement weather (required)
Have a proven track-record of professionalism (required)
Believe strongly in the mission and values of KIPP (required)
Have strong oral and written communication skills (required)
Have prior experience in schools (preferred)
Passed CPS background check before offer (required)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
KIPP Chicago Schools offers a competitive compensation and benefits package:
The hourly rate for the role will be $19/hr, to be paid in semi-monthly installments for hours worked, as scheduled by the campus Director of Operations.
