Incumbent serves as a member of the Nursing Unit for the St. Joseph County Department of Health, responsible for working with all public, private, and parochial schools in St. Joseph County and continuing services and programming found beneficial to schools, and for enhancing additional education and services based on identified needs and other interactions with schools.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with schools on various student health and wellness initiatives and identify opportunities to provide additional support in the K-12 school environment.
Conduct county-level school meetings with appropriate school staff (school nurses and/or administrators) on a quarterly basis (in person or virtual) or more frequently if needed or requested by school.
Maintain a school contact list for all applicable school contacts in St. Joseph County.
Provide education to schools and families related to communicable disease and other school-requested educational offerings using best practice and evidence-based resources.
Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of standard policies and practices of St. Joseph County Department of Health, with ability to apply appropriate procedures accordingly.
Working knowledge of health program education, ideally with schools, with the ability to effectively prepare and conduct environmental and wellness educational activities and related materials for a wide variety of target groups.
Education/Experience
Baccalaureate Degree in public health, or related field required with a minimum of three years’ experience in public health and/or healthcare required. Master’s degree or Nursing degree is strongly preferred.

Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of Department information and records according to state requirements.
