Role Summary Nob Hill Catering DBA The LunchMaster is the pioneer in preparing and distributing high quality meals to local schools. The LunchMaster has worked successfully with 100+ Bay Area, Central Valley and Los Angeles schools for more than 20 years to provide delicious, nutritious meals that kids and adults like, eat and enjoy.
The School Meal Program Field Associate is a part-time, field-based role responsible for conducting on-site visits to school locations to verify consistent execution of breakfast and lunch service, assess compliance with operational standards, evaluate in-school marketing initiatives, and investigate potential causes of changes in meal participation.
This role serves as an extension of the central operations and customer success teams by providing structured, objective observations from the field—allowing leadership to diagnose issues, reinforce best practices, and reduce the need for frequent management site visits. The Field Associate works independently in active school environments and does not manage site staff.
Key Responsibilities 1.Meal Service Execution Verification •Observe breakfast and lunch service to confirm execution of core program standards, including: oService timing and readiness oPoint-of-service setup and student flow oMeal presentation, completeness, and availability oAdherence to documented service procedures •Identify deviations from “perfect service” expectations and document contributing factors
2.Marketing & Program Initiative Checks •Confirm correct placement, visibility, and condition of approved marketing and promotionalmaterials •Verify that school-level initiatives are being executed as designed •Flag missing, inconsistent, or degraded execution
3.Meal Volume & Participation Diagnostics •Conduct site visits in response to unexpected declines or fluctuations in meal participation •Observe student behavior, traffic patterns, and service flow during meal periods •Capture qualitative insights that may explain changes in participation • Identify likely root causes and recommend next steps for escalation or follow-up
Reporting & Documentation • Complete standardized site visit checklists and reports using company-provided tools • Submit clear, objective summaries within 24 hours of each visit • Differentiate between: o Compliance issues o Training or knowledge gaps o Site-specific constraints o One-time issues versus systemic problems
Professional Conduct in School Environments • Maintain a respectful, low-profile presence on campus • Follow all school check-in/check-out and visitor protocols • Communicate professionally with school office staff when required • Avoid directing or supervising on-site staff unless explicitly authorized
Required Qualifications • Ability to work early mornings and/or mid-day service windows • Strong observational skills and attention to detail • Clear written communication skills • Comfort working independently without direct supervision • Reliable transportation for travel between school sites
Preferred Qualifications • Experience in foodservice, hospitality, retail operations, or field auditing • Familiarity with K-12 school environments • Experience using checklists, audits, or inspection-based reporting Compliance & Background Requirements • Must pass a criminal background check consistent with school district requirements • Must be eligible to work in school facilities • TB clearance or additional documentation may be required by specific districts
Schedule & Classification • Part-time, hourly (non-exempt) • Typical workload: 5 –20 hours per week • Hours concentrated around breakfast and lunch service periods • Field-based; travel between sites required
