Summary:

The Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at D’Youville University invites applications for a full-time, Assistant Professor of Biology. We seek student centered educators who are passionate about teaching and committed to fostering student success.

The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and graduate instruction in the biological sciences. Preferred candidates will have the ability to teach in Human Anatomy & Physiology and/or Microbiology, in addition to introductory and upper-level courses aligned with their expertise. This position offers the opportunity to participate in departmental initiatives, curriculum development, academic advising, and scholarly activity that may involve undergraduate or graduate students.

The department supports majors in Biology and Biochemistry, as well as provides foundational coursework for D’Youville’s numerous health science programs.

Responsibilities:

• Teach a full-time course load across multiple biology subject areas and additional courses aligned with departmental needs.
• Develop and deliver high-quality instruction that aligns with student learning outcomes.
• Create an inclusive, collaborative educational environment.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback, assessment, and academic support to students.
• Maintain regular office hours and accessible communication channels with students.
• Engage in departmental and university service, including committee participation and community engagement.
• Develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda, with opportunities to involve students.

Qualifications:

Education:

• A terminal degree (Ph.D.) in a biological science discipline is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated teaching excellence at multiple levels of biology education.
• Experience teaching Human Anatomy & Physiology and/or Microbiology.
• Evidence of innovative, inclusive pedagogical approaches.
• Commitment to inclusivity and supporting student success.

The salary range reflects our good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, the role and associated responsibilities, and the experience, education, and training of the selected candidate. Faculty rank will be commensurate with education and qualifications.
