    Job Title: Therapist

    Department: Student Health and Counseling Services, Student Affairs

    Reports To: Associate Director, Student Health & Counseling Services

    Position Overview:

    Provide individual psychotherapy sessions to SVA students. Contribute to mental health programming and be an active member of the Student Health and Counseling Services team.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Patient Care:

    • Provide short-term psychotherapy sessions for undergraduate and graduate SVA students.
    • Take an active role in crisis intervention as required.

    Administration and Community Outreach:

    • Create and host mental health programming on campus.

    • Create and conduct trainings for staff, faculty and Resident Assistants.

    • Consult with staff, instructors and parents while maintaining confidentiality.

    • Follow-up and case management for students as required.

    • Conduct mandated sessions for students.

    • Actively participate in biweekly case meetings with Student Health and Counseling Services team.

    • Maintain relationships with outside referral sources and continue to develop community based referral resources.

    • Attend conferences, lectures and coursework as needed.

    • Contribute to Student Health and Counseling Services' reports as needed.

    • Other duties as need arises.

    Qualifications:

    • Licensed mental health care provider in New York State
    • Clinical experience working with adolescents and young adults
    • Minimum 3 years clinical experience
    • Excellent assessment skills
    • Crisis intervention experience
    • Interest in working with diverse population
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Postgraduate training
    • Experience working with college students
