Reports to: Department Chair and Director of Operations
Hours: Monday – Friday, 10am – 6pm (hybrid – onsite and work from home 1-2 days a week)
Position Overview:
Responsible for planning, promoting, and supporting department initiatives that are vital to the mission and growth of the MFA DSI program and our broader community. Lead aspects of collaborator outreach and community engagement to support annual programming and department events, such as our annual Thesis Show, public-facing workshops, and speaker events. Develop supportive content, marketing materials, and promotion.
Maintain administrative functions of the program (ex: scheduling, billing, onboarding) and support staff, faculty, students, internal teams, and external vendors. Know the social design and social impact spaces. Must demonstrate strong writing abilities, be detail-oriented, and organized, with solid people skills and experience in program and project management.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead development, funding, promotion, and execution of DSI events, programs, and initiatives.
- Identify and grow partnership opportunities that increase student, faculty, and community engagement at DSI and support our vision.
- Assist the Chair and department in connecting with practices and people (conferences, events, workshops, media) that share our values.
- Identify places globally where we can be visible and expand our network.
- Support Director of Operations in managing DSI curriculum, recruitment, and studio-related activities, such as faculty support, coordination of new applicants, student course registration, orientation and year-end activities, point of contact with SVA administration, caring for the space, and managing resources.
- Assist the Chair with activities to support department goals and strategies.
- Grow alumni efforts and programming to increase connection and community.
- Develop consistent and regular external and internal communications, including monthly submissions to SVA channels.
- Develop and collaborate on content for the DSI website and social media.
- Lead weekly editorial and check-in meetings with DSI teams.
- Oversee DSI student workers.
- Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly administrative tasks (calendars, coordinating meetings, onboarding, billing, POs, expenses, ordering supplies).
Qualifications:
BA or BFA required. Minimum of 2-4 years of strategy, project management, and administrative experience with a demonstrable history of success.
- Understanding of the protocols and objectives of higher education
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
- Computer skills are a must. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and online collaborative tools.
- Collaborative spirit and team player– pitching in, helping out, and investing in others. Able to support, encourage, and inspire.
- Diplomacy and professionalism in working with individuals and organizations, virtually and in person.
- Ability to work independently, think critically, leverage problem-solving skills, and delegate.
- Interact with all levels of staff and management to execute, communicate and track projects.
- Display diplomacy, professionalism, and respectful interaction when working with students, staff, and faculty online, over the phone, and in person.
- Uphold a sense of accountability, equity, ethics, honesty, and transparency.
- Strong organization skills, detail and result-oriented, ability to multi-task.
- Creative thinker, curious, can think “outside the box.”
- Experience working in a studio is a plus, such as design or creative production background and knowledge of technology trends and innovations in design/art.
- Familiarity with the field of social innovation as well as alignment with MFA DSI values and SVA mission.
