    APPLICATIONS SCIENTIST

     

    Overview

    Our client is focused on separation products for various markets including the growing pharmaceutical and biotechnology areas of drug discovery and development. Their primary products are in the field of High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) columns. HPLC is the most commonly used analytical method in the world and our client’s products are targeted at the fastest growing segment of that market. They provide a growing work place that challenges individuals to perform to their full potential.

     

    Position Description

    Our client is seeking an Applications Scientist in the area of chromatographic separations. Special consideration will be given to candidates who have experience with bioanalytical applications. Immediate projects are related to developing methods in Separations Science in support of new product development. This is a PhD level position. Candidates who are recent college graduates, as well as those with previous industrial experience will be considered. The successful candidate should have significant experience in a relevant field of science (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or Chemical Engineering) with a background in chromatography. Our client’s laboratories are well equipped for new stationary phase development, analytical separations and biochemistry research, and have established productive collaborative programs with several prominent academic, pharmaceutical, and biopharmaceutical organizations.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

    ·         Develop methods for testing new chromatography phases

    ·         Monitor trends in chromatographic technology, and use knowledge to make connections to the business, including identification of new opportunities

    ·         Actively collaborate with synthetic chemists and materials scientists around the design of new stationary phases

    ·         Attend conferences, give posters and presentations to support client’s technology/products

     

    Qualifications and Skills

    ·         Hands-on experience with chromatographic instruments, including but not limited to HPLC, and HPLC/MS

    ·         Experience with developing silica and/or polymer stationary phases is desired, although not necessary

    ·         Demonstrated ability to work and contribute in a team environment

     

    ·         Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

    ·         Effective written and verbal communication skills

    ·         Ability to work with multiple functions within the organization to drive products to commercialization

    ·         Develop intellectual property protection for key innovations

    ·         Potentially supervise associate scientists, organize work flow, including setting and meeting key project deadlines

    ·         Willingness to travel (~10%)

    ·         Ph. D in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field, with 0-5 years industrial experience

    ·         Must have necessary documents for authorization to work in the U.S.
