    Scientist, Protein Engineering

    Company Description:

Evercrisp Biosciences, founded by world-renowned scientists with expertise in cutting-edge proprietary technologies, operates in stealth mode with substantial Series A backing from Apple Tree Partners (ATP). Evercrisp is focused on tackling genetically validated, “difficult-to-drug” targets, particularly in areas of high unmet need where genetic medicines can create transformative outcomes. At Evercrisp, innovation, collaboration, and a deep commitment to advancing human health drive our mission to develop first-in-class therapeutics.

    Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious protein engineer with a strong background in display technologies and molecular biology to advance miniprotein discovery projects at Evercrisp. This individual will help in establishing and optimizing discovery strategies for identifying leads, execute biophysical and biochemical characterizations of recombinant miniproteins and enzymes, and update cross functional teams and senior leadership. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment with a flexible attitude to adapt to changing scientific priorities.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Conduct miniprotein discovery and engineering campaigns with clear strategies and objectives.
    • Partner closely with the Computational Biology team for in silico miniprotein library designs.
    • Build phage and yeast display libraries using state of the art molecular biology techniques.
    • Help to establish a streamlined, validated workflow for miniprotein discovery by yeast and phage display.
    • Develop and execute medium to high-throughput screens to identify early hits by ELISA, flow cytometry/FACS, and other techniques.
    • Characterize miniproteins using biophysical methods (e.g., BLI, DSF, DLS), to enable selection of leads.
    • Analyze datasets from biophysical, analytical, and in vitro functional characterizations to prioritize top hits for downstream studies.
    • Update progress and results across stakeholders within the organization

    Qualifications

    • Ph.D. in Protein Engineering, Biochemistry or related field with 0-2+ years of industry experience in protein engineering or biotherapeutics discovery; MS with 2-5 years of industry experience. Hiring level will be commensurate with experience and skill set.

    • Experience assembling yeast or phage display libraries with hands-on experience in molecular biology for library construction, FACS-based sorting, and low to high throughput screening using ELISA or other screening methods.

    • Demonstrated experience with yeast or phage display campaigns and modern library screening methods, including NGS-based workflows.

    • Knowledge of protein biophysical and biochemical characterization techniques such as SPR/BLI, DSF, or DLS.

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills with demonstrated experience in communicating collaboratively across organizations.

    • Experienced in data analysis including DNA sequence analysis and analyzing large data sets

    • Strong independent problem-solving skills with creative ideas.

    • An enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced startup environment and an ability to adapt to changing priorities as needed.
