Under close supervision, operates shears, punch press, notchers, saws, and bending equipment to cut and shape structural steel and plastic. Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Moves and prepares structural steel for work. • Measures surfaces to determine the proper length, width, and thickness required for the job. • Operates shear as required for parts fabrication. • Operates punch press to measure and cut square, circular, and other shaped holes. • May operate manual and computerized press brakes to bend corners in sheet metal and back gauges, including making horizontal and vertical adjustments. • May operate notcher to make open or closed cuts for doors, sides, roofs, and small parts. • May operate grinders and cutting torches. • Fabricates plastic barriers using appropriate tools and equipment. • Moves material into proper position. • Cleans and maintains work area. Qualifications: • EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) • EXPERIENCE: One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Compensation: $15 - $17
