  • Responsibilities

    Scott Engineering is looking for a buyer who will be responsible, organized, and punctual. Management of the Company's requirements for both direct and indirect materials and services, fixed assets, tooling, and select production materials and services. Understanding and can manage inventory control and turns of the products. Will negotiate company cost, quality, and delivery goals. Responsibilities: • Initiates purchase orders and amendments for parts, services, and/or special tools. Follows through from creation to receipt assuring that products are delivered in a timely manner. Tracking and reporting inventory that is in transit. Coordinates with engineering and product management to assure timely execution of new product release to production, through end-of-life obsolescence planning • Secures and analyzes service quotes • Negotiates pricing terms with suppliers and recommends suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness • Reports on market prices and trends, engineering developments, EOL notifications, and manufacturing method improvements applicable to assigned responsibilities • Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics inventory control, and management • Develop new supply sources where current suppliers are inadequate • Identifies cost savings/avoidance opportunities and presents data to management on a monthly basis • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Strong work ethic, proven ability to work in a team environment, and exhibit good leadership skills EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college required; a Master's degree (M. A.) in business or finance is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience is required CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: • CPM or CPIM certification is desired COMPUTER SKILLS: • Advanced level of knowledge with Microsoft Office suite, Excel and Word in particular, and email • Experience with Purchasing software, knowledge of MRP/ERP systems desired Compensation: $85,000 - $90,000 yearly
