What you’ll do

This is a hybrid role. At Scout we believe strongly in the power of in person collaboration to build culture, solve problems and drive innovation. You can expect a mix of remote and in person work based on role requirements.
The essence of this role is to:
- Report directly to the CEO, serving as a key member of the Scout leadership team.
- Establish Scout’s technology roadmap – by aligning the necessary information systems and technology to the company’s priorities – and ensure its successful implementation.
- Identify, develop, and retain top technical talent with the requisite capabilities to deliver performance and results.
- Provide thought-leadership and vision regarding IT strategy, considering the requirements for legacy, integrated enterprise technologies while simultaneously enabling digital transformation and the agility to respond to new and evolving business requirements.
- Lead migration of company’s ‘Day 1’ interim technology solutions to a sustainable, enterprise architecture.
- Balance the need for strategic leadership with swift execution and ongoing delivery of focused IT services.
- Ensure security remains a strategic priority for the Company by providing technical guidance and appropriately resourcing the IT organization in terms of cybersecurity, data backup and disaster recovery/response planning.
- Provide policy and guidance to ensure compliance of applications and processes with all corporate and regulatory standards.
- Manage key relationships with business partners and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with members of the executive team to identify ways IT can accelerate the company’s achievement of business and financial goals.
- Develop, track, and control the information technology investment and annual operating budgets.
- Establish IT departmental objectives, milestone planning, and metrics to track and report performance.
- Any other tasks or projects as directed by the CEO.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in a technical discipline (e.g., software development, enterprise architecture, solution design) with a proven track record leading comparable operations (e.g., large engineering, production or sales IT operations or large-scale technology transformations) is required.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a leadership role as a technology officer or in a senior IT role directly interacting with executive level stakeholders and/or board of directors on technology-related issues.
- Experience building and scaling purpose-led IT organizations in a startup/high-growth environment preferred.
- Experience integrating legacy enterprise platforms and modern cloud-based architectures.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, succinct manner tailored to the audience.
- A collaborative approach - working as a team to achieve ambitious goals.
