    • Our client is a well-established scrap metal recycling and processing company serving industrial, demolition, and manufacturing clients across New England. They are seeking a Scrap Buyer to support and expand regional purchasing operations.
    • The Scrap Buyer will be responsible for developing and managing a regional supplier network, purchasing scrap materials, and negotiating pricing based on market conditions. This role combines outside sales, commodity trading, and material evaluation, with a strong emphasis on business development. This is a field-based, relationship-driven role focused on sourcing ferrous and non-ferrous scrap material from suppliers including manufacturers, demolition contractors, and auto salvage operations. Territory includes Connecticut and Southern Massachusetts, with travel within ~1.5 hours of Springfield.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and grow a network of scrap suppliers across industrial, demolition, construction, and auto salvage sectors
    • Identify and secure new purchasing opportunities (hunter-focused role)
    • Evaluate, grade, and price ferrous and non-ferrous scrap materials
    • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and purchase agreements based on market conditions
    • Monitor commodity markets (e.g., AMM, LME trends) to inform purchasing strategy
    • Manage ongoing supplier relationships and ensure consistent material flow
    • Conduct site visits to supplier locations (plants, yards, job sites)
    • Collaborate with internal operations and yard teams to coordinate material intake

    Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of experience in direct scrap metal buying, trading, or recycling procurement
    • Experience working for scrap yards, recycling companies, metal processors, or commodity trading firms
    • Strong knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous grading and pricing
    • Experience purchasing from industrial accounts, demolition contractors, or auto salvage yards
    • Proven ability to develop new business and manage supplier relationships
    • Comfortable working in a field-based / outside sales environment

    Compensation

    • Base salary in the 90k - 125k/year range
    • Bonus
