    This role is for someone that is a kick-ass Audiobook Post-Production Engineer who also specializes in Quality Control. Your goal is to deliver a pristine-sounding audiobook that the author can be incredibly proud of. You're responsible for bringing the written story of world-renowned CEOs and thought-leaders, as well as a wide variety of athletes, entertainers, and all-around amazing humans to life in audio. 

    As an Audiobook Post-Production Engineer, you're responsible for: 

    • Performing a fine edit on raw recorded audiobook files
    • Removing clicks and other extraneous noises that slipped into the recording
    • Fixing errors in narration and mark pickups for things that can't be fixed
    • Holding the narrator to script and pronunciation accuracy
    • Making sure pacing is smooth and consistent
    • Delivering edited files to Quality Control
    • Preparing pickups for the narrator, cut in recorded pickups, and master the audio files to spec before delivering one more time to Quality Control for a spot check

    As a Quality Control Engineer, you're responsible for: 

    • Creating notes for distracting noises, mispronunciations, and discrepancies between narration and the text
    • Being dialed in to the performance so you immediately catch when a character's voice changes
    • It's second nature to you to recognize if editing was done to spec
    • During spot checks, you'll make sure all fixes and pickups sound professional and that no audio was cut or duplicated, you'll check chapter heads and tales and make sure peak and RMS values are within spec
    • Delivering a finalized audiobook

    You'll work with the Audiobook Department at Scribe Media to ensure audiobooks are produced professionally and on schedule. Pro Tools proficiency is a must along with prior audiobook production experience!

    Here is the list of skills we believe are necessary for this job: 

    • YOU MUST BE PROFICIENT WITH PRO TOOLS: You've successfully produced at least a handful of pristine audiobooks and have prior experience performing Post-Production and Quality Control.
    • YOU ARE SELF-MOTIVATED AND VERY GOOD AT GETTING THINGS DONE: This is an absolute must. You must be the definition of a doer and very self-motivated. You thrive when you can manage yourself and your workload without someone looking over your shoulder. 
    • YOU'RE OBSESSED WITH ORGANIZATION AND HAVE IMPECCABLE ATTENTION TO DETAIL: You must be the type of person who can't stand for things to be out of order. We're a fast moving young company (7 years old) and a big part of your role is to bring order to the chaos, at least in terms of Audiobooks. If you geek out over books and value the impact audiobooks have, that's a great sign. Impeccable attention to detail is so critical to this role, on the application when it asks “what is your favorite animal” we want you to write “attention to detail is my middle name”. 
    • OPTIMISTIC & POSITIVE: We believe that optimism and positivity are super powers. If you have a great attitude and your default state is in a good mood, that is a skill.
    • STRATEGIC AND CRITICAL THINKING: Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, embrace the unknown, and adapt to a quickly changing environment without losing the thread on project goals. You know how to create pristine sounding and flawless audiobooks! You set clear expectations for yourself and plan work in accordance with deadlines.
    • YOU LIKE BOOKS AND READING: If you don't like books, reading, and bringing books to an audio format, this is probably a bad job for you.
