    Overview of position: Scribekick is seeking highly motivated applicants to join our medical scribe team While working as a Medical Scribe you will gain experience working with HPI documentation, EMR systems, as well as medical terminology through specialty-specific paid training. As a Medical Scribe, you will accompany your assigned physician to patient visits; while the physician examines and speaks with the patient, you will chart directly into the electronic medical record (EMR). As you listen to the appointment dialogue with the patient and provider, using smart phrases and templates, scribes will remain present during the appointment without interfering with the doctor-patient interaction; questions and clarification will be held until after the patient visit. By working one on one with the physician, our Medical Scribes build a mentoring relationship with their providers and gain an advantage during medical school. Specialties that Scribekick offers: Primary Care - Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics Surgical Specialties - Orthopaedical, General, Breast, Urology, Dermatology Medical Specialties - Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonary, Radiation Oncology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Management Location: Richmond, VA, and surrounding areas Must have reliable transportation Responsibilities: Accompany physician and patients' examinations and document patient information into the EMR during the patient encounter (history, chief complaint, review of systems, physical exam) Successfully operate the EMR to document any procedures performed by the physician, as well as patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc. Exhibit excellence in medical terminology and billing & coding knowledge in all documentation Maintain confidentiality standards while accessing or communicating patient information that adheres to HIPAA and company policies. You will be expected to maintain the same availability throughout employment/partnership with your assigned physician. Maintain professional appearance, conduct, and policies at all times. Uphold customer service by being adaptable to the provider's needs and open to feedback Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Basic qualifications: Typing test score of 50+ WPM High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required Current undergrad students must have at least 60 credits with a minimum GPA of 3.2 Computer literacy, efficiency, and troubleshooting. Ability to grasp new concepts quickly and efficiently and work as part of a team. Strong and professional written and verbal English communication skills Strong organizational and multitasking skills with high attention to details Ability to accurately collect, record, document information. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Preferred qualifications: Ability to commit one year with daytime office availability Previous coursework not limited to, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, biology, chemistry in a health-related major. Previous EMR experience and healthcare experience, volunteer work, internship, research, etc. Passion and long-term interest in the medical field with a dedication to succeed. Salary: $10/hr, based on experience, with advancement opportunities Physical requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
